Ears please - Swampy Southern Rock
Hi and thanks for your time!
Where could I make improvements on the mix? I've gone ear blind
Is this in the ball park of the brief?
The title is "Gator Mouth" I think I may have this one on the first try lol @ Peter
I'm thinking this would be more of a Cue than Instrumental? Yes?
Is it too dense?
More cowbell? lol
Thanks for all of help!
Lots of SOUTHERN/SWAMP ROCK INSTRUMENTALS and/or INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed by a NEW Music Library started by a successful Editor for Major TV shows that loves the music they've been getting from TAXI Members!
Note: This company has already signed music from dozens of TAXI members, and they need a lot more to fill up their catalog!
Because this is a new company, they're essentially building their full stash of Mid-to-Up-Tempo Instrumentals (and/or Cues) that could fit on a playlist with the references below:
"Suffocation Blues" by Black Pistol Fire
Swamp People
“Born on the Bayou” by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Although some of the references have vocals, please submit Instrumentals (and/or Cues) only for this pitch.
They're looking for Swampy Southern Rock Instrumentals and/or Cues that would feel at home on TV shows like Swamp People, Moonshiners, and others of that ilk. Your submissions should have gritty guitars, killer grooves, and typical Rock-band instrumentation. If you're planning on using Virtual Instruments or samples, we'd suggest adding some real, organic instruments (drums, guitars, etc.) to the mix to add that authenticity factor that's needed for these kinds of Instrumentals. We think it would be wise to avoid guitar solos (especially in the higher registers) because they tend to be distracting or overpowering when placed under dialogue.
All submissions should be about 2 to 4 minutes long for Instrumentals and roughly 90 seconds to 2 minutes for Cues, give or take. Non-Faded, buttoned/stinger endings will work best. Do NOT copy the references in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, texture, and overall vibe. Broadcast quality is needed.

Re: Ears please - Swampy Southern Rock
I think it's working, mix sounds good to me, maybe even too slick, I'd lean toward more gritty than slick for this one. If it were me I'd probably do away with the intro solo guitar and just bang in full band at 0:07. And I might even do a mix with a more buttoned up ending as well instead of that semi out of time ending, which is cool but might not be as user friendly for an editor. Nice work!

Thanks! I didn't expect it to be too slick but that's a nice surpriseeeoo wrote: ↑Tue Sep 22, 2020 2:49 pmI think it's working, mix sounds good to me, maybe even too slick, I'd lean toward more gritty than slick for this one. Sounds like a winner/forward/placement to these old-guy ears.
Good luck with it, Dave.
