East Asian Hip Hop...
Hello everyone. Happy 2008 I was wondering if I could get some input on a few songs I have for this listing:NEW LISTING -- Current-sounding EAST ASIAN POP/ROCK/HIP HOP SONGS & INSTRUMENTALS are once again needed by a LA-based Music Library owned by veterans of that industry. They're seeking material that's a fusion between Western Pop, Rock, or Hip Hop and authentic East Asian music/vocals (from Japan, Korea, the Philippines, China, Malaysia, etc.). No lyrical restrictions (but no profanity). Great performances are essential. If forwarded for Y070803WO, there's no reason to submit the same songs. They offer a non-exclusive, 50/50 split deal -- you keep your original copyrights. Broadcast quality needed. Please submit one to three songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS ONLY -- NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI. For ground submissions, please enclose a S.A.S.E. if you would like a response. Submissions must be received no later than Jan. 18, 2008.I have two tracks. The first one has already been forwarded to another library so I figured I'd submit it to this one too. The second one I whipped up in case the first was picked up by the other company. Its not quite finished but pretty close.Lin Kuei: http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... trueYakuza Moon: http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... am=trueI'm really wondering if you guys think that these have enough of that asian element. Especially in the second track. During the chorus of the second track I'm wondering if the asian feel gets a little lost with everything else that is going on Thanks,SteveOne more thing: Does anyone else hear any kind of weird distortions going on with the second track? It plays fine on every system I've played it on but when streaming it from TAXI it always seems to have some weird distortion or knocking sound in it both over monitors and headphones.

Hi Steve,Both are good, Yakuza Moon is maybe a tad more "exciting". Quote:I'm really wondering if you guys think that these have enough of that asian element.I´m working on a track for this listing too and was wondering the same thing... Especially the word authentic ("authentic East Asian music/vocals") got me thinking if I should use a chinese (pentatonic) scale or something... But it´s hard to use two different scales (western and chinese) and make it sound listenable I hope that someone could shed some light on this (preferably soon )- JH

Re: East Asian Hip Hop...
@jhYeah, its difficult. Thats why I pretty much just used a few asian instruments and loops in a western "setting" so to speak to give it an asian feel. The pop/hip-hop etc. going on in east asia right now pretty much sounds like what was cool in the states 10-15 years ago so studying that is of no help. You might as well just pop in some backstreet boys or mariah carey. Hopefully these tracks are asian enough but who knows -Steve

Hey Steve, liked both your submissions.Lin Kuei feels atmospheric & has some underlying tenion. Yakuza Moon seems very Asian to me & I like the textures that flow in and out. I like how it builds too.Good work!
