Electro Vocal effects
Hi Taxi, What plug-in or software is used for making the vocal-slow-down effect that you hear a lot in pop music (sort of sounds like a DJ slowed down the cd or pulled the plug)?
Also, what plug-in or software is used for creating the computer voice sound (not the T-Pain sound but what you hear in the intro to Keri Hilson's Turning Me On)?

What kind of DAW are you running? I'm using Pro Tools LE 8 and use the Vari-Fi plugin that comes with version 8 for slowing down audio. Afte a quick google, I found this:

I've never used it, but it's worth checking out, IT'S FREE!
Sounds like a vocoder to me. There are many vocoder programs available. There are free ones out there, but I don't know of any links at the moment...K-sonix wrote:Also, what plug-in or software is used for creating the computer voice sound (not the T-Pain sound but what you hear in the intro to Keri Hilson's Turning Me On)?

Developers aren't supporting Turntablist Pro; download link is missing from their site. Try here: http://www.music-boss.com/freeware_plug ... ablist.htm
Scratchdown also does the effect you want, and that's all it does; you can adjust the speeed of the effect and that's all. The robot voice is usually done with a vocoder; uses a vocal signal to modulate an instrument signal. It helps to use an instrument with lots of harmonics or a little distortion.
