Post by subinthompson » Fri Jul 24, 2020 5:01 am

Deal all,

I am submitting for this listing:TAXI Dispatch # D200725RG
I have had a couple of forwards for a similar listing, so I thought I'd try one more

Please let me know your feedback.
Thanks for everyone who helped me with my orchestration question about Double bass being part of the strings family.

Great track, love the feel of it.

There's an odd clicking sound at around 0:36 that seems out of place, softer around 01:00 as well, 01:08-01:09, and possibly some more places. Seems like a part of your string section is giving off release/attack noises, possibly slightly enhanced by EQ? Might even be the pedal, hard to say for sure. The cello section also seems have a tad too much rasp at it at some points, creating an almost buzzing sound at louder passages, perhaps ease that down a bit? Though that last one is a matter of taste, I suspect. :-)
Thanks for listening so closely Paul.
The clicking sound is from the Bass. I quite liked it. Its Ample Bass Upright. But yea, it's a matter of taste. Not sure what the screener would think though. Cello, yes, it's a bit too much at some passages. I'll sort that out. Thanks for pointing that out.

Hi Subin,

Not sure if I agree with Paul because I read his comment before listening, but I did also find the clicking a bit much. I think partly for me it was because the click is fairly loud, but I haven't heard one at all up to that point, so it was more of a surprise. I think if there's a way with the library to turn down the mechanical noises that could work too, vs totally eliminating it, but I did find it too loud as-is. (Not sure a screener would care, though!)

Cheers,
Mike

Thanks Mike, I did lower the velocity of the note. I was just too excited with Ample Bass Upright :D

The clicking is not too obtrusive at most places, but perhaps unexpected to a listener. Only the one around 0:36 seems somewhat out of proportion in regard to the others.
Thanks Paul,
I too felt the same on second thoughts. I did lower it.
Appreciate your time and comments

Hello subinthompson!

I love the subtlety here. Wonderfully captured piano and the cello sounds great! Nice weaving of chords and sections - 1:35-1:45 gave me some chills.

The clicks bugged me too (sorry!) but just a bit. Submit.
