Feedback for - Chill-Out EDM instrumentals

Post by eandersonmusic » Thu Jul 28, 2022 4:00 pm

Hey guys!
I decided to compose an EDM instrumental for this listing. Not that I'm completely new to EDM (I did make 2 albums.. for myself, for fun.. so I did whatever I wanted) but this is my first serious attempt at writing for an EDM listing.
I would love any feedback and/or advice!! Thanks for listening!

My Track -
https://www.taxi.com/members/KIU8KmYxSi ... d-sunshine

The listing -
Lots of CHILL-OUT EDM INSTRUMENTALS are needed by a very busy British Music Library that's constantly landing tons of placements in Film, TV, and other Media.

This Library is on the lookout for a range of Instrumentals that could be found on a playlist with the references below:

"Smoke Signs" by Mr. Chillout
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0ppaKN73ig

"Firøye" by pølaroit
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l53MVKVAyBk

"Blue Story" by Tinush
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYLK9V9dKSA

Although one of the references has some vocals, please submit Instrumentals only for this request.

Please submit well-produced Chill-Out EDM Instrumentals with an overall laid-back, lazy, relaxed, and reflective vibe and sound. Your submissions can range from spacey atmospheres and airy soundscapes to electronic ambient to anywhere in between. Mellow, mid-to-down tempo grooves, inviting motifs, and solid arrangements are all needed for this request. Instrumentation in the general style of the references will suit your submissions best. Your production and any software samples or sounds you use should be high-quality and not dated.

Your submissions should be about 2 to 3 minutes long, give or take. Non-faded, buttoned endings with good edit points are needed for this pitch. Do NOT copy the referenced example in any way shape or form. Use it only as a general guide for tempo, tone, texture, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed.

This company offers an EXCLUSIVE 50/50 deal. Since this is an Exclusive deal, please be sure the material you submit for this pitch is NOT already signed with other Libraries or Catalogs. You’ll get 100% of the Writer’s share, and the Publisher will get 100% of the Publisher’s share. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to submit. Please send as many Instrumentals as you’d like, online or per CD. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59 PM (PDT) on Tuesday, August 2nd, 2022. TAXI Dispatch # D220802UT

Hi Erik

I think you did a great job of following the mood and feel of the references in this one, and it would certainly sound at home on a playlist with those other tracks. It sounds laid back and chilled, as it should, and the mix is cohesive in that all the instruments appear to work well together.

Nothing to nit-pick here at all from me, and I wish you all the very best with it.

Cheers

Hi Erik,

I think the track has a nice vibe, melody and sounds good and close to the refs. Also love the title :)

The one thing I would change if it was my track is to maybe make the ending more intentional and buttoned up.

Best of luck!
Owen

Thanks Owen! Appreciate it man👍
Yeah that ending is a toughy.. especially since they specifically asked for it to be easily edited..
I will try some other ideas out, problem is all of the sounds have effects that trail out too long..
🤔 I may have an idea!

Thanks everyone for the input!

I think it sounds spot on to the references. If I were to suggest something, which I will, it seems like there could be a little more clarity in the mix, maybe a little more high pass here and there, more separation between the various elements. Hope that is useful.
