First and second forward!
Hello everyone,
I'm new to Taxi and just got my first and second forward! I am super excited!
Question to anyone who has been around the block: should I register the track with my PRO now or should I wait to be contacted by a library/Supervisor? If so, should I only register the writer portion if it's a potential 50/50 deal. Forgive my complete ignorance.
When does everyone register their tracks with their PRO?
Thanks,
Rob

Re: First and second forward!
hey congrats on the forwards!!
I'm not super experienced - but from what I know - don't worry about it yet! If you get it signed with a library, THEY will register it. You will automatically get the writer's share (unless stated otherwise in the contract). You do not have to worry about registering it with your PRO. However, if you get a direct-to-publisher type deal, then you would want to register it as you are the publisher (and get twice as much money).
Hope that helps, and congrats again!

Re: First and second forward!
Congratulations Rob on the forwards.
As Mark stated earlier, if it's a forward to a music publisher, than just wait for an email/phone call asking for your full details (including your PRO and your PRO number #IPI). Usually, music publishers handle that side of the business, unless they ask you to do it.
If it's a non-exclusive, they might also rename your cues, which is a common practice as well.
Now if it is a Direct to supe deal, you'll have to register it yourself, as a writer AND a publisher. You should check, depending on your PRO, on how to do that.
Hope that helps,
