First Forward!

Post by hookedlikehelen » Wed Aug 13, 2014 3:12 pm

Hi Fellow Passengers!

I'm brand new to taxi and am STOKED to have gotten a forward! I'm definitely not expecting to land a publishing deal right away, but I was wondering--if the company has interest in our song, will they most likely contact us via email or phone or what? :) I've been reading that the time it takes to hear back from a forward varies greatly. Days, sometimes over a year...any words of advice from more experienced taxi members? I'm trying not to hold my breath, but it is really exciting! :) Thanks in advance!

Here's the listing:

MOODY, INTROSPECTIVE, ALT POP SONGS with Female Vocals are needed by a very busy (and VERY successful) Film & TV Music Publisher that’s nailed down tons of great placements for TAXI members. They’re on a mission to find authentic sounding Alt Pop Songs in the stylistic ballpark of artists like Lana Del Rey, Lorde, Banks, etc. Down-to-Mid-Tempo Songs only for this pitch, please. Submit songs that are melodically and lyrically interesting, with compelling hooks, and great song structure. Your vocal performance should have something unique in its delivery, not unlike the referenced artists, while still remaining original. Lyric themes can be about anything (within reason), but should be universal and PG-Rated. Please avoid specific references to names, dates, places, times, brands, etc. Relationships and life in general are always popular. Do not copy or rip off the referenced artists in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, texture, tone, and vibe. This Company offers an EXCLUSIVE 50/50 split deal. You’ll split all sync fees 50/50, plus you’ll keep 100% of the Writer’s share. They get 100% of the Publisher’s share. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). You must own or control 100% of the Master and Copyright to pitch for this opportunity. Please submit one to three Songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than Thursday, August 7, 2014. TAXI #U140807AP

Congratulations. Love that track - the hook, mix, lyric phrasing, bass line, whatever that bassy synth sound is - really well done.

I would bet you would hear via email rather than phone. TAXI sends that info with the forward.... you also put both in the metadata tags of your MP3... right?

Also, check your "junk folder" regularly... some members have found the Listing Party email in there. :o  :o

The mantra at TAXI is "Write Submit Forget Repeat" (do a forum search for those words) The biggest part of this is the Write and Repeat... Volume.... it's all about Volume... of course don't let quality suffer, make the best songs you can, but do it as often as you can. A famous self-help dude says "Seek Quality first, the Quantity will follow."

Good Luck, Nikki (and Jon ;) ) It sounds like you guys have what it takes.

I'm just a newbie, too, but this is a really nice, solid track. Congrats and good luck!
