First Forward!
I've been a member for a year or so and have submitted music when I can, mostly existing pieces that I thought might fit certain listings.
In that time I've have had some great feedback on composition and music and some good constructive criticism, but had no luck with any forwards. A few months ago I started writing from scratch specifically for listings that caught my eye and one of the first pieces I wrote specifically for a listing was forwarded, for Dispatch listing D150626LS - INSTRUMENTAL SOUNDSCAPE CUES. It's nice to get the first one through and feel like I might be on the right track now!
I'm enjoying the challenge of writing pieces in a short time frame and tailoring them directly to the listings, it's a really good creative exercise in itself and with the possibility of forwards and maybe eventually scoring some placements it adds an extra incentive to keep at it. My main career is as a graphic artist, I work on music part time whenever I can and have been working on developing my music writing and production skills over the last five years after 15 years of playing in local original rock and metal bands, so this feels like a nice little step forward!

Re: First Forward!
Heya, James!
First of all... WELCOME TO THE FORUMS!
Now... second... (and I'm using you as an example) the songs that are most likely to get forwarded are ones that are written SPECIFICALLY for the listing... I've found this out by experience. We can go through our catalog of songs and find some that are "close" to what the End User is looking for... but our BEST bet is to research the listings in detail and write stuff based on THAT!
Congrats on your First Forward! It's a great feeling, eh!
Regards

Re: First Forward!
Thanks for the replies and the welcome!
Writing specifically for the listings is definitely the way to go. I still have a few awaiting review and I'm writing a couple more today. It's great fun either way and has really got me motivated to write more. The unbiased feedback from the critiques is really valuable and there's a good variety of listings, so I'll keep chipping away!
Now back to the studio!

Re: First Forward!
Congratulations. I'm already envious.
I've submitted several tracks to different listings. Only one response so far from TAXI (and that was a return).
Having said that - I have only been a member for a month. I finally bit the bullet after I kept seeing the advert in my PRS magazine.
Really excited to be part of TAXI and am thoroughly enjoying the forum comments from the likes of Russell and Paul, and TAXI TV is brilliant.
I have to say that I was a bit sceptical at first but am looking forward to my first forward.
Keep up the good work guys.
