First Fowards!

Post by SamGreene » Wed Mar 11, 2020 1:16 pm

Howdy,

Would just like to brag on my first forwards after joining taxi late last month. I know the bar may have been low since they were looking for lots of cues, but still, feels good after getting the first few rejected. :D Batting 3/9 so far, with one dramedy track rejected because I had little vocal sample in it - easily fixed for the future.

For the DRAMEDY and TENSION listings.

Best of luck to everyone,

Sam

Sounding really good! I had a lot more than a few returns before my first forwards so sounds like things are going great.

Cheers,
Mike

Thanks Andrew!

One more forward this morning for a Beethoven Symphony. That's my last submission in the pipeline. Working the trap/future bass listing next. I've been listening to this type of music for the past 3 years, but haven't actually made any - should be interesting. Drive to make music has dropped during this week of crisis. Hoping it returns.

Contrats Sam,

Checked out your site and could feel the certain moods you're creating in each. Keep up the good work.

Is there any chance you might share with us what VTS's your using? I realize it's mostly due to the performance, but they sound amazing.

Ron,

Thanks for the compliment! I've been working on my composition and performance skills as well, but I've also been acquiring some new samples and plugins the last few months. For certain genres, I think it's very important.

I use have used Logic X, Native Instruments Komplete 12, SoundToys Plug-ins for the last few years. Let me know if you’d like details on any particular track, happy to share. As far as virtual instruments in Logic X, I don't really use them much. Maybe Alchemy every once in a while. I use other plugins for mixing.

Recently bought Spitfire Albion, Solo Strings and Aperture Strings. If I could trade for one of their studio or chamber orchestras I’d go with that instead. I subscribed to EastWest composer cloud for a month to do the Beethoven piece - Didn’t have the right aggressive articulations in Komplete and Spitfire. Used a few of those on the dramedy tracks as well.

Also got the Output plugs and instruments last month - love them so far. Subscribe to their Arcade plugin/library as well. It has been useful for aux percussion, swells, drops, loops etc. Have had some issues with stability with these plugins though - sessions not opening or crashing. Seem to have gotten better after an Arcade update.

I play a fender p-bass and have a few guitars that go direct unless I'm playing the acoustic which I normally record with a large diaphram AudioTechnia mic.

Sam
