Fit for fun instrumentals ??
Hey All,I'm wondering if you think these tunes might fit this listing. Here's the tunes:http://www.taximusic.com/stream/157832/ ... UPBEAT/FUN INSTRUMENTALS are needed by a successful Production Music Library/Publisher that has signed and placed tons of TAXI writers/songs over the years. This company will be looking for material that would be great for Feature Films and TV/Radio/Commercials. The tone can be quirky and comedic, light and airy, bouncy and silly, etc. Primarily, the focus will be on spare instrumentation that features clever dynamics and melodic "moments". The range is wide here stylistically, with the focus being on the overall tone. Nothing dark, dramatic or moody for this one - only happy and fun. There are no arrangement restrictions here, but be sure the instrumentation isn't too thick or lush. The performances/production must be excellent and the recordings need to be Broadcast Quality (great home recordings should be fine). Pieces should not exceed 4 min. in length and they need to have clear endings - no fades. Please submit one to three pieces online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI - and must be received no later than February 6, 2009. TAXI #Y090206IN

Listening to the first link right now -- dang, that's some serious pickin' dude. I love the track!!! Those banjo rolls are outta sight. The little lapses that sound like you're regressing into Foggy Mountain Breakdown are over the top cool. I spent all day at work today listening to acoustic guitar music on Pandora, and this track sits right along side any of that stuff!Sounds upbeat to me -- I'd submit this for sure.BTW: Is that thumb and fingerpicks on a nylon string?

Re: Fit for fun instrumentals ??
Hey Kitz, I love these! Great playing. I love this finger style. The tunes are all definitely happy. I feel the first tune, Choo Choo Weinerdog (love the title!) is very upbeat. I would certainly submit it. The other two are both wonderful but I don't know if I would consider them upbeat enough. There is another guitar listing you should consider for those two:ACOUSTIC GUITAR OR PIANO INSTRUMENTALS for Retail projects and Film/TV placements are sought after by a Major Music Publisher with distribution through a huge Production Music Library. This Publisher is also an Emmy-winning Composer for daytime television and this is a fantastic opportunity to be introduced to a Publishing/Licensing relationship as well as the possibilities of future composition projects with a VERY successful industry pro. Excellent arrangements, performances and recordings are a must! These pieces should feature one instrument primarily, though a slight dose of additional instrumentation will be considered as long as the overall tone is simple and uplifting. This is "music to shop by" — nothing dark, heavy or serious. This Publisher will be looking to sign 8-12 tracks for an upfront "buyout" fee that will be in the $2K range. While it will be an exclusive purchase of the material, this Publisher will not take any portion of your writer's share. He won't be looking for custom compositions, but rather a collection of "B" material — tracks that are laying dormant in your catalog. While we can be a bit more liberal for this one, you'll want to be sure that the compositions themselves are very well written and the recordings are Broadcast Quality. Please submit 2-3 instrumentals online or per CD, but be prepared to send more if the Publisher gets in touch with you. He will ultimately be interested in signing 8-12 tracks for the buyout fee mentioned above. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS — NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI — and must be received no later than February 27, 2009. TAXI # Y090227INBest of luck.Steve

2nd tune; dang just gorgous! Couple nits:T-here seems to be a very brief stutter in the rythm @29secx-Might just be me, but is felt like the tempo drug a bit in the middle sectionLove this track. You've got enough material here for 3 or 4 cuts! Really nice stuff. The artificial harmonics sound great. BTW: How do you keep your fingernails in shape? Mine are always breaking. I'm trying to not use clippers anymore, just a file.

Re: Fit for fun instrumentals ??
Erich,I'll take a listen at :29 in the morning. It's been so long since I've recorded this it porbably needs a more current take but I'll evaluate in the morn. Thanks.I only use a file on the right hand and for me the best length is fairly short - just over the tip of my finger so that I can get a lot of flesh and a little nail - when too long the sound thins out too much. If I can JUST feel the nail over the tip I'm pretty close. Any little point on the nail seems to thin out the sound so I try for an even curve over the tip. Sometimes I get them too short and can't play well for days. There's a great youtube video of Michael Hedges in front of a college class where he glues a piece of a ping pong ball to replace a broken nail. Thanks for the help!!Kitz

Re: Fit for fun instrumentals ??
Sounds great, Kitz--well played and recorded. Since the listing calls for "spare instrumentation," I'm assuming that solo instrumentals would work, but Steve's recommendation might be a good bet since it calls for "one instrument."Choo Choo Weinerdog is my favorite title in a while. Muskrat Mountain sounds mid-tempo to me; there was a time around 1/3 the way through that I lost the beat a little. Cherry Pie sounds "light and airy" and is spare enough to qualify, probably.Congrats on all!Vince

KitzListened to you songs then looked at my acoustic propped up by my computer.I think it said somethin like "wish I had someone play me like that". It was a covet for sure.Very nice job.Not so sure about the percusion/brushes or whatever on the last one. Seems to clash. That is just me. I am usually wrong:)Thanks for the chance to listen.Paul

Like 'em kitz! I think tracks 1 and 3 fit the listing fine, not sure about the second one . . . but it would be pefect for the acoustic listing imo. Good luck!
