I go for authenticity and timelessness and let the chips fall where they may. If there's a trend to me it seems like background instro cues for deeper cable reality programs aren't looking for "artist" sounding cues. For more high end placements with upfront money it seems they're more prone to look for something that sounds like an artist release.

You're right and that's great if you can sound like a current indie type artist. A quick check of your website and yeah I think you do so I think you have a shot. Unfortunately for some of us we just don't have the vocal chops for it but good luck to those that do as it's certainly a path that can be trodden and perhaps a more enjoyable one in many ways.eeoo wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2019 12:17 pmI go for authenticity and timelessness and let the chips fall where they may. It seems like you'd have to really like whatever trend you try to follow.
And then, if you over-analyze something to try and understand the trend, that might not work, either.
Ah, the good old days when a King would either love your music or tell you there's too many notes!
Life used to be simpler.

Or maybe you end up liking it because you studied some references and got into something new ....but yeah..I think you have to enjoy whatever it is you make. I've made some stuff that's been signed and even the odd placement but to be honest I don't care enough for it to make more. ( i.e Hip Hop...I can do it but it's not my thing )
