Forwards: Breakdown of Submissions Received?

Post by KBee » Mon Nov 07, 2022 10:51 am

Dear Taxi,

I have a Suggestion: It'd be great to know the breakdown of submissions received for each Listing, such as total number of submissions ...and then from that, the number of songs that were Forwarded and also the number of songs that were Returned for each Listing.

Can that feature be added onto the Taxi site, perhaps in the Forwards blog or maybe a new area on the site?

Thank you!
- KBee

Hi, knowing all the statistics might satisfy curiosity, but then again, how do you think it would help you or anyone else? A piece is either good enough or it isn't, and as far as I'm aware, if there are no suitable submissions then there are no forwards, or if all submissions are appropriate they're all forwarded (although those extremes are both unlikely). Also remember that there's a forwards blog where the forwards for every listing are shown and you can listen to them (if permitted by the writer). Therefore, you already have access to make the most important comparisons.

In addition to what Graham (Telefunkin) said, whenever Taxi provides info like that (they do sometimes BTW), they get a boatload of calls and emails complaining about the numbers, asking more questions about the decisions, etc. You can't win sometimes.

There have been Taxi TV episodes where they play tracks submitted for a given listing (with member's permission) and discuss whether forwarded or returned and why.

:D Casey

Thank you very much to Telefunkin and Casey H for their replies to my query about the breakdown of Forwards. The reason for my interest in knowing about the breakdowns (number of songs forwarded, number of returns, etc.) is simply curiosity to know what the competition is/was numbers-wise for any given song listing.

I think the best way to learn about the competition is to go to the Taxi Forwards Blog. The number of submissions they get truly varies... I've heard Michael say that they sometimes get hundreds of submissions for genres like drones, which are very easy to create. The more complex the music, the fewer the submissions they receive. But, you can see how many tracks were forwards for each listing at the forwards blog.

Thank you! Yes, I check the Forwards Blog and it is very helpful - also recently began to watch Taxi videos on YouTube which are super helpful especially I find to me as a beginner songwriter - have written a grand total of 1 song ...so far!

A lively conversation we got here :)

I just watched the "How to MAKE THE MOST of Your New TAXI Membership! [September 2022]"

Right here ๐Ÿ‘‰https://youtu.be/v3mprvMm6BA

and the gentlemen revealed that we can actually upload our listing result and ask the members of the forum about it.

Now here's my question guys... How am I doing that lmao ? ๐Ÿ‘€

Can you help me out with quick hint ?

If you showing support, I greatly appreciate it you now already!

  • Create a new post in the Peer-to-Peer section of the forum.
  • Copy/paste the full listing description into your post.
  • Copy/paste the screener feedback.
  • Post a link to your music. (here is a video on how to do that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJH_skdyZPg
