Genre?

Post by Wizofozland » Sun Jul 22, 2018 3:28 pm

I have been with taxi for just over a year now.

It’s certainly been a learning curve.

Probably the most difficult thing for me, is interpreting genres. It’s just something I have never thought about previously. I have always written for my next album.

This song is an example, I just finished it, it wasn’t written for any particular thing, just following my muse.

What genre would it fit in in your experience of pitching to taxi?

I would really appreciate the feedback.

My first impression would be that this is Americana. At least that's what the instrumentation and vocal say to me.

Indie Folk. Check out Sufjian Stevens "The Only Thing". Reminds me a bit of your tune, with acoustic guitar and whispery voice.

I think you would have to really study the way he arranges and produces his tunes to achieve that sound, but your tune sounds pretty good, and it might be worth doing a second take a different way and see if it could work.

Just an idea,

Vince

Hey Wiz.
My first impression is singer songwriter, but as Nicotina mentioned possibly indie folk. John

Nice song! I was hearing Moody Blues and David Bowie. I love the guitars and the solo. As for genre, I would go for film and TV singer songwriter. Hope that helps :)

Nice tune - clean production.

I would second singer songwriter.

Now the only issue is waiting for a listing to come up that has some reference artists that are pretty close so you can submit it !
