Gentle Natural Percussion and/or drums?

I bought a couple all sample kits and an mv kit. I don't have the full version of Kontakt, so I got all samples because they have the wavs of what's in the kontakt version, and am putting in the Independence sampler. It's a job,lol, there's about 17,000 samples!

I've been studying the kits,lol. You picked the modern over the vintage. the vintage has less close micing and more of room and kit micing, but maybe you prefer the Gretsch over the Ludwig? The Memphis Soul kit has the Gretsch but with more room and kit and no close micing. It doesn't have brushes, but it has congas, tambourine and shaker. Then there are snare choices,lol! There's a lot to compare between not only the kit pieces but how they are miced.

The Multi velocity pack I bought the Premier. I liked the snare, not really the rest of the kit, and it only had 3round robins in the all samples anyway, so I made 3 round robins myself using Sonnox transmod.

I bought loop loft bundle of brushes. They are drum tracks more than samples. Drum drops also has drum tracks. You can buy them as individual tracks. I thought about buying some Rogers pop kit tracks since the kit isn't available yet and slicing them, however then I'd need to figure out velocity and there's no way to isolate the kit pieces if they're hitting at the same time,lol! I've got enough going on with the regular kits.

Hi Lamar, and thanks for the tip. I have some LoopLoft material in audio and some midi too. I found some of the audio loops very good indeed, and some things more difficult to get seamless transitions when fitting loops together, Complete tracks helps get around that, provided the format is appropriate (or you can edit cleanly) and provided the tempo is close. Its another option worthy or more exploration, thanks.

Session Percussion for Addictive Drums is kinda unique in that the kitpieces are laid out so you can use regular drumkit mappings/MIDI loops and still have something intelligible. I don't know that I'd buy Addictive just for that, but it's definitely worth having for it's own sake, imho. Also, in a Kunkel in a box vein, Drumcore has both MIDI and audio loops of famous drummers, worth a look.

I don't have Addictive drums, although I'm beginning to wish I'd taken that route a while ago instead of choosing EZDrummer. Its something else I might watch out for in Black Friday sales, rather than pay $169 for a starter pack.

Drumcore Lite at $49 is not too expensive to buy into. I'm not sure whether any of the featured drummers plays gently, but I'll take a more detailed look to see what I can find out. Thanks for more great tips

The manual says there are 3 round robins or alternate samples, but doesn't mention velocity layers.

Good catch Len, I hadn't noticed the lack of mention of velocity layers. However, the demos sound good. Don't thy always? It might (or might not) be a concern in a sparse mix but less of a worry in a denser mix. Still looking ............
