Get out your cheese graters!
Oh man......... I have all kinds here for ya....Gouda, Gorgonzola, AND WHITE Cheddar! Better yet, get out your bic lighter and raise it in the air, while grabbing your girl's backside through those Jordache jeans......
80's buttrock ballad extravaganza for you all!! I wrote all 3 from scratch, and just barely got them in Sat Night.
Listing:
'80s-Style POWER BALLAD/ROCK SONGS with Male or Female Vocals are needed for an (up to) $1,000, Direct-to-Film Producer placement in an upcoming Independent Feature Film with an Award Winning Indie Film Director!
Important Note: You'll get 100% of the sync fee, and keep 100% of your publishing and master rights. No publishing splits!
This Film's Producer is on the hunt for Mid-Tempo Songs that could work as a replacement for "Alone" by Heart, which is currently temped in:
"Alone" by Heart
They're NOT looking for clones or soundalikes! Similar tempo, style, and overall vibe? Yes. Clones? No!
QUOTING THE PRODUCER: "We need something epic that sounds like it would be playing in a bar."
Tempo Matters: Because the scene is already edited, matching (or being close to) the tempo of the reference is strongly recommended.
Please submit rockin' Power Ballads with an iconic, '80s sound and powerful, soaring choruses full of emotion! Memorable melodies, solid arrangements, '80s-inspired rhythms, well-performed vocals, and lots of emotional intensity are all needed for this request. Rock instrumentation in the general stylistic wheelhouse of the reference will suit your submissions best (think keys, guitars, bass, '80s-inspired drums, etc.). Please ensure any virtual instruments or samples you use are high-quality and era-appropriate. Vintage and Modern recordings are both fair game! Powerful vocal performances full of confidence could help you seal the deal!
Lyrics that avoid references to specific names, dates, times, places, brands, and profanity could make your Songs easier to place. Please do NOT copy the referenced artist or song in any way, shape, or form. Use it as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Do NOT submit any material with unauthorized samples of any other artists’ music, sounds, or any other form of media. Broadcast Quality is needed.
The license fee for this placement is (up to) $1,000, depending on the ultimate use. This is a Direct-to-Film Producer placement, so you’ll keep 100% ownership of your Copyright and Master Recordings, plus you’ll also get 100% of the License Fee and any applicable performance royalties. You must own or control your Copyright and Master Recordings to pitch for this opportunity. Please submit as many Songs as you’d like, online or per CD. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59 PM (PDT) on Saturday, April 27th, 2024. TAXI # S240427EN

https://www.taxi.com/members/DVGQpc37Tk ... y-stevens-

The first two are definite possibilities (maybe), but the third track is by far the best SONG, but it will certainly get returned because it is WAY OFF the reference track... I also have 3 more that I already had sitting around with my lame vocals that I submitted. but mainly for the feedback on the returns that are inevitably going to happen:

I am guessing ONE forward out of 6?? Curious to hear what you all think! Wish me luck!

Re: Get out your cheese graters!
YAAAS!!! Dude, I'm an 80's butt rocker at heart, and these hit me right in the feels.
Not that it matters now, as these are submitted and waiting the verdict, and these suggestions might necessitate re-tracking every damn element, and thus may be unfeasible. BUT.... I think "Hearts Collide" might have more impact if it were just a teensy-bit slower - maybe like 5 bpm slower. Also, for my money, I'd take out those strings in the opening and just let the piano shine. Vocals have some audible auto-tuning which doesn't fit the era. But everything else is slam dunk. Those guitars are rippin' and with a tasty solo to boot! Melodies are definitely era appropriate. And that drum fill leading into the first chorus with the pick slide on top of it? Can I get a HELL YEAH?!?!
"Beautiful" is hitting me as doing everything an 80's power ballad needs to do. And has just the right "disgusted but in love" inflection to the singer's voice. Got a bit of the Coop in that dude's delivery!
"We Will Ride" isn't striking me as too "ballad'y". But you're not expecting much from that one anyway. I wouldn't be surprised with a return on that one saying something along the lines as not hitting that ballad territory. Cool song though! But - ummmmm - that ending???
You've definitely got some great 80 hair metal sensibilities to your productions. And since that era / genre was my first musical love, I've definitely got a soft spot for this stuff.
Thanks for sharing - this made my day!

Hey...I listened and liked all your songs. I spent a long time typing. And once again, I hit enter instead of submit and it all went away. It has happened before. Good luck with your work.
Thankfully, while growing old is compulsory, growing up remains optional!

Re: Get out your cheese graters!
Thank You Matt! Don't we all long for Camaros, drive in movie theatres, and skin tight Jordache jeans on beautiful girls with big hair?? It was a much simpler time no doubt, and I am glad that you enjoyed these. To some of your points... The bridges on "Hearts Collide" are my vocals, and from the initial demo version, so yeah, they are Melodyned to the point of almost absolute absurdity..., telefunkin was quick to point this out as well, but I just couldn't get tracks out of the singer in time...it happens. As far as tempo, it is 88 BPM, which is exactly the tempo of "Alone" by Heart, and it seems like this is very important in the brief. That said, I agree on that it should be a tad slower as well....The strings in the intro?? Yeah, not great, but I thought it to be era appropriate.... lol I expect nothing from "We Will Ride" but it is far and away my favorite of the bunch, even with the lame ending -In any case, it was alot of fun to write and play on this stuff - It took me back to the good old days!!VanderBoegh wrote: ↑Mon Apr 29, 2024 3:25 pmYAAAS!!!
