Thanks Dave - arrived today.

Sound great - very balanced and clear - so far as my ears go.

They also come with a set of velvet ear pads and a two year warranty which was an added bonus.

So what's this I read about burning headphones in? I'm three songs in - does that count ;)

I'll be S(h)ure to check out the Shures when I've saved enough pennies to buy some top-end headphones...

I can see how you could easily get obsessed with this stuff (actually I am) - one day I'll buy some top end listening headphones - and you can be s(h)ure I'll be back for more opinions and experience ;)
HaHa! My Sennheisers are VERY old 430s. Just love 'em, still!

If you're s(h)ure you'd like out to check out the Shures, there a writeup in the the June 2010 Recording Magazine. They liked them a lot. Just as when I bought my Sennheisers, I chose the next step down from the top-of-the-line, because I thought they were less hyped on the highs. The Recording Magazine article gives a detailed description of both, in a similar way. Apples and oranges!

Ern 8-) :)

Thanks Ern, I'll check out the article 8-)

Something to be said for buying the 'second best' buy. Often much better value and nearly always as good.
