Got forwarded for sparse, sentimental solo piano piece

Post by suzdoyle » Tue Dec 10, 2013 3:35 pm

Hey gang;
Just got my song, "First Kiss," forwarded direct to a Film music supervisor. The listing asked for a soft, sparse, sentimental, thoughtful, innocent, romantic, melodic, contemporary sounding SOLO PIANO piece that can play in the background of a scene where two people are about to share a very special first kiss.

Screener #347 said it captured both the innocence and the romance requested. Woo-HOO!

:-),
Suz

Seems to be a popular theme here lately...
and that's a good thing.
Congrats to you, too.

Congratulations on your forward!
I've been getting a little discouraged lately and was told that members often listen to each others music and offer suggestions so I thought I'd give it a try.
I submitted to the same listing and didn't get a forward. I would appreciate any input/suggestions on the song 'Subtle Joy' on my homepage.
Thanks, much appreciated!

Sorry, new to the forums, I thought the link showed up automatically at the bottom of the message.
My page is www.taxi.com/caloop and the song is 'Subtle Joy.'
Thanks!

Hi CP

Your song has a nice elegiac quality, but I can sort of see why it wasn't forwarded. As is usually the case, it's *not* about the quality of your music but rather about how much it really fit the listing. Your piece was probably too busy for this listing - the examples given (the 'a las') were more sparse and/or regular. And our piano sounded a little 'programmed' to me. For example, the damper pedal is held over several bars in one recurring section and made that section sound a little blurry. Piano samples also sounded a little dated. Obviously I'm not a screener, so I can only guess, but fresh ears are really helpful to us all!

Good luck and welcome to these forums and to Taxi.

I agree with jonnybutter.... nice piece, chords, well played... but it's a bit too methodically played and not sparse enough with the room it needs to breathe. From one pianist to another.... keep at it!
