Green Lantern trailer - just for fun

Another mockup - all music and SFX editing by moi! Tried to keep as much voice as possible. There is one little section where some of the original soundtrack comes through - slow strings - sounds a little odd but doesn't clash. Couldn't eq it out and wanted the voices there so left it.

Cheers Bryan. Yeh, although it was really 'cutting-to-picture'. Still, one step at a time.

Rob ! love love love it! You got the voices in this time! Get it up on IMDB!
Can't comment in any good techy sense on the music, I'm a crooner and wouldnt have a clue what goes into something like this !- 200+ tracks?
it sounded like a proper trailer sound would to me though!!
Big fan, if your not already a full time muso, these are making a great portfolio/cv !

Great work Rob!
Which DAW are you using when you do these?

Awesome work, Rob! It definitely felt like the real thing to me. Great use of pauses!!! Love the electronic stuff you'd put in there (did you use the Evolve Mutations packages?) too.
You could have saturated the tempo sequences more, like with a heavy electric guitar in at 44', but you resisted. Was that a deliberate choice?

Re: Green Lantern trailer - just for fun
Thanks guys!
Sedge - yep, the idea is both practice and to build up a demo collection. In my limited understanding of IMDB though, I thought it was for legitimate credits? In terms of content there's probably about 5-6 unique instrumentals shaped and volume automated along with a few dozen sfx.
Stuart - cheers, I do all the music and editing and synching in Presonus Studio One Pro (S1). Love it, lots of drag-and-drop simplicity, no bloatware, very stable. The overall workflow is:
1) Download trailer with Quicktime Player Pro (QTP)
2) Import movie into S1 and separate soundtrack to an individual audio track which can be edited (essentially sliced and volume controlled)
3) Build new soundtrack, video plays along so synching is straightforward as long as everything is aligned to the same starting point.
4) Export final soundtrack as an mp3.
5) Open the original movie file in QTP and delete the soundtrack
6) Open the new soundtrack mp3 in QTP, copy and paste into the movie
7) Ensure the synching is still correct then export as a new movie
Magne - thanks. Yes, there'll be some Evolve in some of the instrumentals. In terms of music choice, with these early practices I'm only using tracks I have on hand while I get the feel for flow, what carries the story etc. So it's really about what I have that works. At some point I'll start to practice custom scoring these things and then I'll have more creative choice.

very nice!
the fill drums you use from around 0.30 i would take some top off to make em more distant. now they seem close but weak. not a big deal, but something u can try and see if it works.

It's very kind of you to share this level of detail.

You've inspired me with your work on this. I think I could use Sony Acid to do this. I've been using their free Xpress version and having a ball
(from here: http://www.acidplanet.com/downloads/xpress/)
I'm thinking about starting with a TV promo, something short and [relatively] easy.

@ Stuart - you're welcome. I guess you can use anything as long as it lets you play audio and video at the same time.
@ rabiang - thanks. I won't worry about changing anything in this one (as it's only for practice) but I'll bear that in mind for next time.
