Has Anyone ever had......
tennis elbow? OK, I know you are probably thinking..... what does this have to do with music... but hear me out....I've been in alot of pain lately because I have a tear on the tendon of my right arm. This is devastating to a musician you can imagine! I have been patient and trying to relax it as much as possible, but it has been bad timing with so many projects i am working on. I even shopped out collabs of some music parts i would normally do...My doctor is just too slow. I brought this to his attention almost 3 months ago now and it took forever to get the ultrasound and i haven't heard anything else regarding sending me to a specialist... I am fed up and was wondering if anyone here had it before and what they had to do to recover as fast as possible!Any thoughts are appreciated!Maceman

Hi Maceman, there's some co-incidence here. Although I don't get tennis elbow specifically I have been getting pains while playing guitar (shoulder and picking hand) and today it led me to do some research on player's pain and exercises that can help.I found these links useful:http://www.guitar-instruction-video.com ... 06/7.shtml

That's interesting. I hadn't actually attributed the tear to possibly getting from my guitar or piano playing. I wonder if that is possible?I haven't had shoulder pain yet, but the arm is definitely sore..... Thanx for the links, I will look into this as well!Maceman

Shiatsu massage might be another option.hope you feel better soon

You might also want to look into finding a good neuromuscular massage therapist. Its kind of tricky though because a lot of them will say they are a neuromuscular therapist when really they can't even define what NMT is. Best to do your research. A good one can do wonders for your condition but an impostor will just make you feel good for a few hours after treatment with no long term results.I've had a bunch of injuries from martial arts related activities and sometimes soft tissue stuff like that never completely goes away. And just when you think its gone...BAM you re-injure it reaching for a cup of coffee. Good luck, I hope it heals quickly.-Steve

Re: Has Anyone ever had......
Maceman, last year I had tendonitis so bad my arm was unusable for several months, doctors and treatment did nothing for me. One day my wife came home from the pharm with a little 2 inch wide velcro band with instructions to keep it wrapped tightly around my arm about an inch below my elbow. I said, "What good will this do?"My wife suggested I shut up and wear it. After about a week my elbow improved daily and I wouldn't get out of bed without putting it on. After a month or so my arm was perfect again. It's a cheap way to try a quick fix. Good luck.

I´ve had it. The cure was acupuncture. It worked real good on me. I combined it with massage which I did myself several times everyday. Massage the infected little spot, it hurts but it´s doing good and stroke the sinew between your wrist and elbow upwards. Another thing to do is stretching by holding your arm right out, grab your hand with the other hand and stretch upside and downside.

Hey Maceman,These things can sometimes take months or years to clear up. Depends what degree of injury you have, which can't be gauged online.Could be an injury you sustained, that you weren't even aware of at the time. If it's an actual tear than it's more likely to be an injury than a repetitive strain.Acupressure uses pressure instead of needles on the same meridians as acupuncture. It is very effective, as is acupuncture, if done correctly. Some treatments, like tennis elbow, you can do yourself, as the point is easily accessible, at the elbow joint. You can get books, or maybe find some pointers online.See what your doctor comes up with; better still the specialist.Trouble is, whatever the diagnosis and treatment is, it's going to need some rest. The more you use it, the longer it will take to heal.Cheers,Dave.
I put the kettle on, it didn't suit me.
