Hello,

as far as I know BMI states it's 3 quarters to pay for the end of the previous quarter.

 You are absolutely correct, typically for 75 years from the onset of decomposing
(...and I'm not even kidding...but you already knew that...)

Copied directly from the BMI website:

Mailing Date >>>>> Period Covered
9/27/2010 >>>>>> 1st Quarter 2010
1/17/2011 >>>>>> 2nd Quarter 2010
3/28/2011 >>>>>> 3rd Quarter 2010
6/27/2011 >>>>>> 4th Quarter 2010

Of course this is for US performances only. Foreign performances first have to be collected by the respective society and then passed on to BMI, so you can add from another 6 months to several years depending on the country.

But that holds true for all PROs.

Hello,

It's funny how the dates to leave BMI work. It seems to work out so that you have got to stop your publisher and your writer at different times. Once your 6 to 3 month window expires for the publisher then it's another 5 years.

FYI
well i just got off the phone with APRA and they said they dont do co-territories ( BMI is ok with it but APRA is not )
So i think i might leave it as APRA and then have BMI collect for US generated royalties and direct deposit in US account

let me know what you think or if you have other suggestions
steve
