This is great!! So on the point. And yeah I still make this mistake quite frequently. Great advice, great attitude and outlook Owen!
We all do I guess :)

Chipping in to just agree - great advice!
TBH It is almost impossible to not repeat that mistake as even making cues you need something to make them stand out somehow.

Yes I agree - it's usually a fine line which I think one gets more comfortable walking on (but not crossing) once you get a solid confidence with the foundations.
The way I see it is I ask myself "Are all the requested ingredients present?" If the answer is a "yes" THEN I will allow myself to put some spice on top so to speak.

Of course this resets when you dabble in a new genre and that's why I remind myself all the time that patience is key :)

I like the composition, but what struck me immediately was the piano sound. It sounds electronic to my ears. I had 3 piano pitches returned from the same screener, who also told me that I needed to change my piano sounds to something "softer". I used Ivory pianos so I was surprised about that, but I'll revisit them at some point and see if I can't get a more acceptable sound. Piano is one of those things that, unless you're going for a more processed sound you should try to make it sound as organic and acoustic as you can. Once you get the sound that works for these pitches, save the preset or make a DAW template for future work.

I believe these are the forwards for the listing: https://blog.taxi.com/forward/102422/. (scroll down for S221012EM)

All 15 of the forwards are clean acoustic piano sounds, no layering whatsoever. I bet that if you stuck with just the piano layer and not as much reverb it would have been a forward.

Thank you Paulie. That's really helpful.
