Welcome!I took about a 8 year hiatus while I made some major adjustments in my life, but a new boss at work heard that I played and had a home studio in his basement and invited me over (like I'm gonna say 'no' to the boss, eh?) That was back in the pre-DAW days, but it got me into recording and writing again, and learning and having &$%^loads of fun ever since. Music is a spiritual and very healing thing. It keeps my fragile grip on reality intact and in perspective! Glad you are here!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone... I too had many distractions, and having"extra time to work on music" was always a factor... Now, I realize, I still don't have "extra time"... ... I have to make the time............Thanks...Garrett

The trick I use is to switch the "extra time" to the dayjob, and concentrate on the music. Doesn't work all the time, mind. Welcome to the boards, hope you get as much from them as I've been getting.
