Help with US gigs?

Post by gustumusic » Wed Apr 15, 2009 7:45 am

Hi!I'm new on both this forum and TAXI site, with my band "GUSTU", please check it out (www.taxi.com/gustu). We got so lucky to release a single in the US via 272 Records last year, and we were looking to do some shows over there around November/December. But as a Norwegian band, we don't have that many contacts in the states, we got booked to a couple of venues, but that's not nearly enough to be able to go over and do the shows :/ WE NEED HELP!Any ideas of what I can do to be able to do some shows? Our first thought was to do some shows perhaps 6-7 shows, in California, since it's there the song has been the most noticed. But we if there is a chance to do some shows other places, like new york, florida og texas, it would be more then ok We are NOT looking to earn money, just to be able to play and do what we love to do. We were hoping to do some support shows, for other bands/artists, or we could do some shows at small bars or something. Is there anyone out there who can help us? Thank you for your time and help, I'm looking forward to chatting with you on the forum.Kind Regards,Stig"GUSTU"

You might try the Musican's Altas if you're interested in booking gigs in the UShttp://www.musiciansatlas.com/There's also a great house concerts site... can I find it... yep, they've got a pretty good list. http://www.houseconcerts.com/venue.php Depending what you play, if you appeal the college crowd, you might have an in. Derek Sivers wrote an article about that - http://cdbaby.net/college2You need to decide what cities you want to play, then firm up some gigs, work out your transportation/accomodation & budget, and then use the Indie Bible to pitch your CD to local radio stations & work on marketing your self.http://www.indiebible.com/Just a few thoughts.
