How long do you wait for a contact before trying to sign a cue somewhere else?

Post by Sonora » Tue Feb 28, 2017 10:49 pm

I would like to know how long you guys wait for a contact before trying to sign a cue with another library (or to submit it to another listing) after submitting a cue to a listing that was requested to be exclusive to the company.
I had a few forwards mid January for exclusive listings and I was never contacted by anyone so I would like to setup a time frame before submitting the tracks to other libraries.
How does 3 months sound?

I asked myself the same question... I'm just waiting for the moment, but I'll have to take an option ;)
Each piece must work ;)

It depends. If a cool listing comes up I might pitch a forwarded-to-another-listing-party track again. Otherwise I do tend to wait a couple months, just in case.

Untill a song is actually signed, you should continue to pitch it to other relevant listings. I believe there's a general consensus about that.

About giving a reasonable timeframe, I believe it's about a month after deadline according to previous threads in the forums http://forums.taxi.com/submission-wait- ... 0wait%20or

Thank you all, Kolstad I feel that the thread is referring more to forwards/returns.
I had all the tracks I'm talking about forwarded but I never heard back from the library. So my question I guess is how long to wait after a forward rather than after a submission.
One month after the track was forwarded maybe?

Yeah I was referring to exclusive listings only. If it's non-exclusive I would basically never stop submitting until I sign the piece with 3/4 libraries.

Keep pitching until you sign something. Unfortunateley odds are that you won't hear anything back from any one particular forward. Until you sign an exclusive deal get those songs/cues out there to as many ears as possible!

I wait about 0 days, 0 hours, and 0 minutes before pitching tracks to other listings or opportunities.

The only exception is when I get forwarded to an extremely juicy listing that requires exclusivity and comes with substantial upfront money or seems to be a great career move. Then I'll give it a few months to see if anything comes of it.
