I’m a hobo man

It’s a long long way to Texas if you travel like I do
No cars, no planes I just hop aboard the train…clickey clak

I’m sittin on this bale of hay..feelin bad for you all today
Up tight..dead lines..ya got to find a better way…clickety clack

I’m a hobo man I know who I am and I shore do like this train
I gotta shirt on my back and my nap sack..I got no ball and chain

No phone no boss no credit card I got no swimmin pool
You can have that fancy stuff..I just don’t think it’s cool

The night is slowly fadin…time to close the door
Where’s this train a takin me..I might have been there before

Yeah, Paul - this is a good Bluesy-Country song... sorta Johnny Cash-ish. Some harmonica wouldn't hurt it none.
You even managed to get 2 Hobots to 'like' it on Soundcloud. :? :P

The vocal style is not comparable to any country artist I can think of. I compared to Whispering Bill Anderson and Don Williams, but this just felt way different to me. The vocal style feels more jazzy maybe.

Sounds more rockabilly or Chuck Berry than country. Very little country vibe. The short guitar-lead-solo sounds more Surf than anything else, surf in lead style and definitely surf in deep reverb tone.

Did you want it to be more country? Change the guitar licks to use country licks and the vocal must use some aspects of drawl.

It is a good track, just doesnt sound country.

Hi Peter. I just make em and then sit back and wonder what I did. I have some harp in there, but now that you say it (and I checked back), the volume is way too low. Yes the soundcloud bots take time to block. ha ha take care ole friend

This came to mind instantly: Carole King - Smackwater Jack

Hi I like when you instantly hear a similarity to an old tune. One tries to be different, but that is almost impossible to do with all that has been done. Thanks for your take on it

Hi SB Its funny you say Chuck Berry. We always used to play Jone-b-good to start our gigs. ha ha That short lead has to be changed. I played that as filler until I figured out something better. Easy to change it and I will. Ok, you don't think it sounds country. I didn't either, but did not really know how to categorize it. Thanks for your thoughts and time
