I did something dumb.
Actually I'm not sure if I did or not. I made some dubstep tracks. So far different from what I normally do, I know, but I have this secret love for dubstep and thought... I could do this, submit and see what happens. Will someone listen to my tracks and give me a pointer or two?
Thanks!

Re: I did something dumb.
I like dubstep, but it's not the pond I swim in.
I just stand on the bank with my bag of breadcrumbs,
so take my comments as lightly as you wish.
On "Bees," the sandpapery sounds that come about :60
should come in way earlier. There is a gritty texture to
the dubstep I know that has layers of cleaner synth sandwiched
in with layers that are grimier. In fact, "grime" is a (sub)genre onto itself.
Also, although you have those fast staccato notes, you don't have the
"stutter." I would take a single synth track (if it's MIDI), print it as an audio wave form,
then take a stretch of that wave form and take slices out of it, making it
look like a set of vertical venetian blinds. You can make these sliced areas
uniform, like a fence, or the spaces/slices could speed up or slow down.
That's all for now. You might think I'm full of it. What do I know?!
I do sincerely hope that my thoughts have been helpful in some way.
What you have so far is super!!
The best to you in all things.
(edit) I listened again and if you don't think my comments are rubbish,
I have more of them!

Phutboy Slim is a free VST that can help you quickly perform stutter edits in realtime within your DAW.

Re: I did something dumb.
Thanks for the tips! Woop. I kind of did it on the sly, in a few hours, more or less of a challenge to myself to see if I could make dubstep. I might make more, and I'd like more tips, I've been working on my main project, took a break and did a couple tracks and then shoved my nose right back into my main project. I'll prolly get back into it, in a week or so, mostly because I'm not happy with how short the second track is.
-on the 50-60 seconds in, the drop, (Bees), I feel is appropriate for the genre the time slot for the drop, however, I agree with you that it could be grittier, dirtier and deeper. I really want more emphasis for impact there and I am pretty sure how to get what I want, and probably needs more variation and departure from some of the sounds I have in it. I need to go back and listen to it again.
So let's chat more about these tracks...

There's a guy on YouTube who goes by the name "boyinaband."
His dubstep tutorials are great.
