I recently did some serious headphone shopping, and went with the incredible Shure SRH840s. Isolation is great, frequency response is phenomenal, and even though they're a bit heavy, they are very comfortable! --- Still love my old Sennheiser HD430s, too.

I have Beyer Dynamic DT 990 pro's ( semi open )
I love them. They're very comfortable and the sound quality is excellent. I use them to double check my eq, tones and trouble shoot unwanted resonance and phasing.
I find they're accurate. I have an Arc system on order and until then you can only trust your monitors to certain point.
I home record, so a good set of phones is a must.
I also have a set of Shure SRH440's for recording vocals and acoustic's. They work well.

Rich.

Last holiday season I received a set of Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro cans, replacing various other sets I have been using for years. I can't believe I waited so long for Santa. They totally rock. I've also used various sets of AKG's in different studios and they seem good for the most part. Everyone's different, but I am definitely sold on the BD's for both aural quality and comfort.

they feel comfortable even after couple of hours having them on, and the quality is amazing...

+1 ... mine have "DT 770 Pro" on them but I presume they are the same thing. I got the 250 ohm because they are meant for studios. The 80 Ohm version is meant for low output headphone jacks like Ipods and such. No difference between the two versions other than that.

I guess I never posted this, I went for the Beyer 990 Pros.... They seemed to be less fatiguing to my ears...

I also need suggestions on what headphones to buy within the range $45-$60
Short answer. None of them ...I've not seen any recommended budget studio headphones for that low of a price. Sennheiser HD 280 PRO MK2 seem to be well regarded as a budget option at under $100
