I QUIT MY DAY JOB!!
Well, actually I retired.
After working 24 years 8 months and 12 days for AT&T as a lineman, I retired yesterday. It's frightening, exhilarating, and calming all at once.
I've been getting regularly decent Royalty checks for quite a few years now, and I know what it takes to make it as a Composer for TV. I'm in several Music Production Libraries (and TV shows) thanks to TAXI, and now that my "free time" has increased GREATLY, I can really ramp up my production. Royalties and local engineering sessions (recording, mixing, mastering) are currently only "supplementing" my retirement, however, the income is significant enough to make me feel comfortable about where I can take it.
I'm noticing that being off from "work" permanently, feels different than VACATION. Working for the man 40+ hours per week and spending an hour every day commuting, takes a lot of energy. When I took vacations from work, I didn't really feel like doing anything but resting up for the next tour in the trenches. However, now that I've cast off the chains of subjugation, I'm feeling a renewed vigor and energy. Since creating music is what I LOVE, I won't work another day for the rest of my life!
Thank you to Michael Laskow and the TAXI community for leading me, educating me, and INSPIRING me.
Because of you all, and the wonderful opportunities provided by TAXI, my future is shiny and bright!
ONWARD!!!

Congrats Russell,
Now you are working for yourself, put in the same amount of time that you gave AT&T.
Or any variant thereof...
Cheers

Re: I QUIT MY DAY JOB!!
Bet that feels like a good leap, eh?
On a personal note, thanks for the bits of encouraging words you've offered to me in my 'early' start.
I quit my day job, too - when I retired. LOL.
To INFINITY... AND BEYOND!
Cheers.
