I took my studio apart today.

Hi Everyone!

My wife and I are in the process of moving from northern NY to a suburb of Minneapolis, MN, so we can be closer to our 2 year old granddaughter. The studio came apart today...wires, wires, everywhere! All music projects have been on hold for the last 6 weeks but I should be up and running in a couple of weeks. We have been living in this house for 32 years so you can imagine all the "treasures" that we have had to part with.

The good news is that I will have a nice, big room for my studio and it will be a much shorter flight this year to the Rally.

There's something therapeutic about completely taking everything apart, moving it out and then reassembling again, making sure all the wires and everything is nice and neat. For reasons I can't explain (similar to how hangers in my closet get tangled by just sitting there doing nothing), my little setup seems to get mysteriously tangled up more as time goes on. Every once in a while I have to take it all down, out of the room, clean everything and then put it all back together neatly again.

A buddy of mine says he does the 'take-everything-apart' ritual once a year.

I know the feeling and can relate.
We are also moving to a new place in a few weeks.
This will give me so much more space and we will also live so much closer our friends and the city!
I can't almost wait!

I can dig it! I've got my main studio, which is a complete mess (with a soundproofed booth), and my home studio which my wife wants me to tear down and take everything to my REAL studio! --- But here's the kicker: She may have a new job in the Bay Area soon, so not only will I have to totally tear down everything and box it all up, I may have to also tear down my booth because I rent a guest house!

But I prepared for that --- One word: Screws! I built the whole thing with screws, not nails, if I ever had to dismantle it. Not that I'll transport the booth from L.A. to S.F., but I guess it's possible!

PS. I lived in both of the twin cities, back in the 70s. Have only seen snow up close twice since then.

I've consulted with the spirits; it's gonna be a big year for snow in the MidWest. (which I only mention cuz now's a great time to shop for a snow blower)

I could probably use that word effectively with how I’m feeling about the whole undertaking, but the post might be deleted!), Stan (oof-yah, sure-dah...got it!) (I thought my retirement years would be near a nice warm ocean. I’m used to snow and cold in northern NY. To make me feel better you can tell me how much you miss snow!), Mojo, thanks a lot for the bone chilling forecast! I bought a new mid-sized Toro last winter. Since I bought a town house, they do the snow and lawns. I decided to take it with me just for fun. The community is really “too” quiet! After the neighbors get used to hearing my music, a good blast of snow blower noise at 6 AM on the first snowy day will be just what the place needs to liven things up!

Well, it is back to work for me. The big truck is supposed to arrive at 9AM tomorrow. What did I do with the bubble wrap? (Do any hip hop writers see a title there?)

Hey Bob, are you a fisherman? I may be going up to our family cabin at Lake Vermilion (look on a map --- big lake between Virginia and Ely) in the next few weeks. Fantastic walleye and bass fishing! It's also turned into a Muskie lake, where guys fish for days just to catch one 40 pounder!

I spent my summers on Lake Vermilion as a kid, and had family in St. Paul. So I know really well the climate up there! We once visted my grandma and grandpa up on the "Iron Range" in the middle of winter. It was really -40 F! When it's that cold, there is a big high pressure system over the state. The snow crunches, steam rises straight up, and it doesn't feel as cold as 0 degrees with wind. Pretty wild! I once went out to our cabin in the winter, and walked (or plodded) through 3' of snow. When I went out onto the lake, there was NO noise. Nothing. Completely quiet. Really awesome. --- The same in the summer, with a big high pressure system. Go out in a canoe on the lake, no wind, and it's totally silent (except for the loons ),

I think you'll really enjoy Minnesota if you're used to winter cold weather. I grew up in Michigan, so I know what it's like. Not bad at all!
