INSPIRING, UP CLOSE and PERSONAL-Style INSTRUMENTAL

Post by Sonora » Tue Feb 07, 2017 7:49 am

I wrote this track a few days ago for another listing and was forwarded, do you think it fits the description for this other one as well? Is it worth submitting considering I also have another one ready (mixing it right now) made on purpose for this.

LISTING for reference:

New Listing INSPIRING, UP CLOSE and PERSONAL-Style INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed by a Non-Exclusive Music Library owned by two highly successful Film/TV Music veterans. This company is new to requesting music from TAXI. It’s extremely unlikely that you’ve got any music in their catalog. They’re expanding and need a lot of great, new music. Please listen to these references to hear some examples of what could work for this request:

Undercover Boss (Canada): (starting 27:41)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jy6e08lngvQ

Extreme Makeover: (starting at 1:14)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-nMrFh-RJMA

American Idol Season 12: Holly Miller Interview:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATbz-UII4Gk

Please send them Inspiring Instrumental Cues you’d expect to hear playing while the show’s featured person or contestant is speaking directly to the camera and giving the lump-in-the-throat “back story” interview.

What would you hear on Extreme Makeover Home Edition while little Johnny talks about how he and his family heroically struggle with his horrible illness? What would you hear when they do the hopeful pre-performance interview on American Idol or The Voice? What would play on Undercover Boss when the boss talks about how one of his employees works double shifts to provide for his child with special needs?

Your submissions can be organic and acoustic-driven (guitar or piano-based), electronic-based, or a hybrid of both, as long as they are inspiring and uplifting, or emotional and guaranteed to tug at viewers’ heartstrings! Short intros, or no intro at all would be best. Stick to one motif from beginning to end, keep it simple, and don’t get too “big.” Add and subtract layers of instrumentation as it progresses to help it move forward, and resolve it at the end with a non-faded, buttoned/stinger ending. Tender, light, emotional, and/or hopeful are all good examples of moods your pieces should reflect.

Your submissions should be at least 90 Seconds long. Good edit points and non-faded, buttoned/stinger endings will work best. Please do NOT copy or rip off the referenced music in any way, shape, or form. Use it only as a general guide for tempo, texture, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

This company offers a NON-EXCLUSIVE, 50/50 split. You'll get 100% of the Writer's share. The Publisher will get 100% of the Publisher’s share. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to submit for this pitch. Please submit one to three Instrumental Cues online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a yes/no basis with no full critiques, and must be received no later than 11:59PM (PST), on Tuesday, February 7th, 2017. TAXI # Y170207UP

Hi Sonora - I'm not great at this genre myself, but there are lots of people in the Peer to Peer forum that might be able to help. That's where most people hang out to provide advice.
Cheers
Matt

Thanks Matt, I thought the listings section was the best choice, next time I'll head there;)
