INSTRUMENTAL (no vocals) no humans, or no lyrics

Post by timmcallister » Sun Nov 25, 2007 11:03 am

I posted this question, and got a few private messages before deleting the question. I deleted the question because I found similar questions and answers by searching.however, as a few wanted to comment, I am reposting (a somewhat redundant question) for public consumption. My question. Does a listing for INSTRUMENTAL (no vocals) mean no humans or no lyrics? I understand why sung lyrics are not desired. I think the answer is... It depends. blah, blah, blah. You all know the deal.Anyway, the "piece" at question is this one:http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... truefemale voice comes in around 1:25Comments welcome.- tim

Hey, Tim.To MY ears, "INSTRUMENTALS (no vocals)" means no lyrics or spoken words. Using the human voice as an ambiant part of an instrumental --rhythmically, melodically-- shouldn't be much, if any, issue. But then, what da HELL do I know?Ted

I asked this question at the Road Rally. If the human voice is treated as an instrument and sings no lyrics, then it's not a song. Thus a soft "aahing' in the mix is OK. In this case, because the voice is not the "lead" & is part of the atmosphere & sings no words, this piece can be considered instrumental. Great vocals, by the way.Hummin'bird

Oh, yeah. That's an instrumental. Not that I know a fricking thing, but I wouldn've pulled the vocals back a bit... But nice feel to this track all the way around. Ted
