Yeah I hear you but I'm sure it's impossible to "pre listen" to everyone's tracks for free and still screen all the submissions in a timely fashion for the regular listings. That's what the custom critiques are for, and of course, that's a longer time frame than we have here.

I think this listing is a good example of the way things are in the "real" world. I've certainly experienced this sort of thing before. I've pitched to briefs that were very vague and it turns out the client was "fishing" for what they wanted and they would "know it when they heard it". It's just really a part of the game we have chosen to play. The fact that Phil has gone back to the client for clarification is a great help and is really a cut above what often happens. Of course the best is to get some "a las" but that doesn't always happen either.

I do know some folks that are kick ass at both the orchestral stuff and the pop stuff and I wish them the best on this listing because I think they can certainly cut the gig.

This listing clearly states my goal by joining Taxi.

Composer for A-List production company making Hollywood movies.

I imagine the job comes with a Beverly Hills mansion with studio and POOL.

Unfortunately I'm not ready. I can not swim (yet). So I'll pass on this. Safety first!

I never thought the listing text was vague, though.

I may just submit a couple of those along with some more "cinematic" things and see where the chips may fall.
Now THAT'S the spirit, Mazz! :D All it takes is one forward and contact to build a relationship and grow with it. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Best,

This is what I LOVE about you amazing cats involved in the forums. I SO dig all of the community. The great input, ideas, comments, and yes, even the criticisms. We at TAXI are made better by us all working together like this. To suss out the things that aren't working so well, and to use the many TAXI tools that do work.
I'm more than happy to try and help when I can actually be helpful, and stay the heck out of the way the rest of the time, so that this forum stays a real member community.
This listing was definitely different than most. Thanks for your patience, emails and posts.
Best,
Phil

Wow !
I never thought my original post would create SO much buzz!! So glad I posted, because now I know
exactly how to approach this gig. Having said that, I must point out something to the folks at TAXI
responsible for all listings:
It doesn't have to be THIS hard to decipher a listing! We can't make targeted submissions if the listing
blurs the target-how can we aim correctly? Surely one bad apple does not ruin the whole sack and most
listing are super clear on their demands. This one was not!

thanks to all composers AND Taxi stuff for helping out.

Off to the studio now!

Hi there,

Just another clarification on this listing. Does anyone know if by Pop they mean Pop songs with vocals? Or do they want pop instrumentals?

cheers
El

The listing says they are looking for INSTRUMENTAL composers.... So no songs with vocals.

Hmm....a musing.

Pop accentuates the bland to entice un-motivated listeners.

Whereas

Classical accentuates the intricacies to entice motivated listeners.

A conundrum.
