Joey Defrancesco Organ Style FORWARD
Forwards are always nice, but I really felt good about these two tracks that were Forwarded right before the New Year. I have a real Hammond A102 and Leslie speaker in my studio, which hadn't been fired up in a while. I recorded the Hammond parts, then sent out to guitarist Brian Monroney and drummer Eric Eagle, recorded separately. It's the fastest I ever heard back from a library after a forward and both tracks are in the process of signing.
Here they are if you care to listen:

These are great! Very nice work. I’ve heard Brian live at the Seamonster here in Seattle a few times - fantastic guitar player. I was happy to get a forward on this listing as well but hearing your tracks….they were spot on. Nicely done!

Thanks! Nice to see a fellow Seattle-ite on here. Took a listen to your "Joey's Deeds" on the Forwards Blog. Nice job, and Congrats!MichaelBears wrote: ↑Sun Jan 01, 2023 12:56 pmThese are great! Sounds fantastic, excellent playing and recording. Did you write these for the listing or did you have them handy from another gig? Would love to hear more if you've got it! I got two forwards as well, Joey D was one of my faves, and was a bucket list guy that I wanted to play with someday. Was hoping to resurrect some old Sonny Stitt/Jack McDuff stuff.

I wrote these for the listing. Nice job with your forwards as well. I took a listen on the Forwards blog. I liked "Tired Yet." I thought it unusual to have the percussion on the bass for a walking line, but it actually does sound cool that way. I went to see Joey D at Jazz Alley for the first time years ago, and ended up going 3 nights in a row as I was so blown away.
Love Stitt/McDuff! Billy Preston, Jimmy Smith, Larry Goldings et al.
I almost sold my Hammond a few times to make room, but it's a unicorn and I just can't bring myself get rid of it. I haven't done much recording in this format, but I did do this Hammond Trio single during the pandemic that I thought turned out well:

Thanks for listening and good luck with your forwards!
