Listing ORIGINAL VINTAGE SONGS RECORDED between 1950 and 1969

Post by martinmichelson » Wed Mar 10, 2021 3:58 am

Hello,

I would be interested if anyone has such old original recordings (own compositions). It could only have been recorded by an old tape recorder. But the listing quotes: "They DO NOT want material that was recently recorded and made to sound old. They can ONLY use AUTHENTIC, ORIGINAL, VINTAGE RECORDINGS, and only if the sound quality is reasonably good. It doesn't have to be super hi-fi, but reasonably good, well-balanced recordings and mixes are needed."

Yeah, right? I have some old 4-track stuff but dammit, I wasn't born until 1972.

Is it really possible for someone to have a recording of their own original work, that is copywriter and also reflects music of that time period with enough fidelity and no skip, pops or scratches to be acceptable for forwarding to a music library?

Remember these calls don't go out just to Taxi. It's industry-wide. Somebody has a back catalog of old tunes - I'm hypothetically suggesting that there's a vault with unreleased material by the Platters or the Spinners or even lesser-knowns. It doesn't have to be - and most probably is not, from the era - someone's basement tapes.
