Love Taxi Listing Reference Tracks!

Post by Casey H » Mon Dec 20, 2021 9:51 am

Beyond actual submissions, I just love listening to the reference tracks in Taxi listings. I learn so much great new music! :D :D If I have time, I may make some playlists out of ref tracks in various genres. (Has anybody done that?) I was just perusing an indie rock listing and immediately fell in love with a track.

And, of course, you need to listen to current music to make competitive tracks. One of the biggest reasons for Taxi members not succeeding is being too stuck in the music of a previous era. I struggle with it too, being over the social security age. Listening to songs and collaboration helps.

Listen to ref tracks! Let it sink in and influence your writing, whether it be music, lyrics, or both.

I love this one... https://youtu.be/gmwO0-DljEw So few instruments needed!

I have listened to so many great songs and compositions I never would have listened to had it not been for TAXI.

Casey,

Thanks for bringing that topic up! SO much work goes into the references, and they really are a great way to expand your horizon and become more contemporary.

best,
Michael
