EPIC, SLOW-BURN HYBRID TRAILER-Style INSTRUMENTALS are needed by an EXCLUSIVE, top-tier Music Licensing Company with placements in huge Film Trailers, Video Games, and TV Shows.
NOTE: We previously ran a similar request as TAXI Listing #S211123SB , but the Music Supervisor wants to hear MORE material. If you submitted to listing #S211123SB , please send different material this time around. This Company is fairly NEW to requesting music from TAXI, so chances are you don’t have any material in their catalog yet! This is a great opportunity to create a new outlet for your music and begin a new relationship with an awesome company.
This Company is looking for Instrumentals in the general stylistic wheelhouse of the following references:
"Wrath Of Titans" by Max Legend
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fq0XUeFlT0U
"Blackburn" by 2WEI
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6fR61yH2p4
"The Resistance" by Mervin Mathew
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8cK35G7p2TI
Quoting the Company: "We're after powerful music with a mellow beginning. The tracks should follow the Intro > Build > Climax > Climax II (optional) > Outro structure. The intro needs to be minimal and slow, with very few elements that build to an edit point. The second act should start to introduce the next elements, simple rhythms and pulses before another edit point. The climax should unleash the full melody with all the powerful instruments, push onto the Climax II if needed where you will add to the power with bigger hits and higher octaves. Ease the track out with a gentle outro. Think of that outro as the thing you hear in Trailers when the voice-over says, 'Opening January 28th.' It's sort of a coda after the climax. Most importantly build intense tension and release as a huge epic climax. Work with a melodic idea and flesh out with massive brass, climbing strings, heavy percussion, unique sound design and scorching guitars. Choirs may be added for dramatic value also. Think epic battlegrounds and game boss fights."
Please submit well-produced Hybrid Trailer-Style Instrumentals that build gradually to create an overall dark, epic, heroic vibe and sound. Please follow the structure that the Company has outlined above. We recommend sticking with one melodic motif/idea per submission so they remain cohesive throughout. Your submissions should have cutting-edge sound design elements and high-impact instrumentation, but please be sure that any software sounds, instruments, or samples you use are super high-quality and modern – nothing dated or low-quality will work for this request.
TAXI Tip: Don't be afraid to layer up your instrumentation to create a huge, blockbuster sound!
NOTE: This Company is more interested in composers who can deliver full albums in this style than people who only produce one or two tracks every now and then. We suspect that if they hear a couple of your tracks and love what you're doing, they'll ask you to send them more music on an ongoing basis.
All submissions should be about 2 minutes and 30 seconds to 3 minutes long, give or take. Non-faded, button/stinger endings will work best for this request. Do NOT copy the referenced examples in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed.
This company offers an EXCLUSIVE deal. You'll split all upfront sync fees 50/50. The Publisher will get 100% of the Publisher's share, and you'll get 100% of the Writer's share. You must own or control your Master and Composition rights. Since this is an Exclusive deal, please be sure your material is NOT already signed with any other Libraries or Catalogs. Please submit as many Instrumentals as you’d like, online or per CD. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59 PM (PST) on Thursday, February 10th, 2022. TAXI # S220210SB

Re: Matrix Of Heroes
John I like the musical elements of this composition-- I haven't checked out the reference tracks. It sounds like you're making some progress in your compositional ideas. Productionwise, there is a lot of distortion/harshness in the actual sounds- and I'm not sure what the source cause of this is. The drum hits that come in around 1:05 are especially harsh and white-noise sounding. The brass in the third act and the rest of the stuff after those drum hits at 1:05 continue to sound distorted to me. When the guitar comes in, it sounds MIDI-ish to my ears-- I don't know if it's real or MIDI. I like the content of the guitar part but the distortion on it combined with the other distortion going on elsewhere makes the mix a bit inhospitable to my ears at that point.
Some nice ideas here though.

Hey John
EPIC, SLOW-BURN HYBRID TRAILER-Style INSTRUMENTALS are needed by an EXCLUSIVE, top-tier Music Licensing Company with placements in huge Film Trailers, Video Games, and TV Shows.
First thing that's important here for everyone is when a listing says "TRAILER", "EXCLUSIVE", top-tier, "placements in huge Film Trailers, Video Games, and TV Shows", only the very cream of the crop will make it. I think this is a great example of carefully reading listings and putting your time and efforts where they will be best served. My feeling is unless you are already at the skill and success level (or very close) required here, it would be better to focus on good or great cues in general that you can use to fill your library catalogs. That's not targeted at you specifically, John, but it is obvious that this track is not a candidate here. Construction, sounds, everything have to be amazing.
I'm only posting to remind folks that reading the listing and between the lines in a listing and focusing your time and energy can go a long way toward success. If I see a listing for a vocal song for a Grammy winning artist, I wouldn't spend hours or days writing something because I know my time is better spent writing songs that work well as source music for TV shows and movies. The vocal song needed for that listing would have to "walk on water" in ways I'm not ready for and may never be. (Loose analogy).
Not saying people should never shoot for the moon. Just suggest managing both your time and your expectations.
Best,
Casey
PS Nothing harsh intended here, just general advice.

Re: Matrix Of Heroes
Hey John
It's an improvement on what I recall hearing from you previously and there are some nice musical ideas in there so that's the good news out of the way.
The bad news is it's still not close enough to the references to make me think it would be anything other than a return unfortunately. Most of the issues seem to be production related now as I think this music in the hands of an expert and properly produced would be in with a shot but at some point you're gonna have to learn what makes the refs sound like they do and what makes yours sound not as good.
There are some particularly poor production and arrangement choices such as the intro section and also the fake sounding 80s guitar part , the white noise snare that sounds like a Commmodore 64 SID chip , and the weird outro that sounds out of context to everything else with unfortunately undoes much of the other good work where you do have.
Personally I think you need some sort of production bootcamp ( maybe something like Sync Academy ) to get you out of those poor habits and into some better ones.

Thanks for commenting. I have decided to enroll in Sync Academy for many of the same reasons you have noted.
