Mix question (vintage recording)

Post by tresero » Wed Jul 03, 2019 7:53 pm

I am in the midst of moving and don't have my studio setup anymore (just in a spare downstairs bedroom). My ears are probably not that good to begin with as far as mixes go, but I would love if you could take a quick listen to this track.

It's vintage and I'm remixing from the original Ampex 8 track tape but I'm worried about balance since this room is very square and reverb laden.

Thanks for the listen.

drums are back.
lead is forward
synth bass is very forward especially the stereo modulation effect in the midrange.
vocals are working.
synth pads are back.

Thanks,

Unfortunately, I can't do much with the drums and bass since they were bounced to two track (oh the lovely days of 8 tracks). I'll see if I can do something with them though. I can fix the other stuff.

I've decided some tracks are meant to die. That doesn't mean the song, but at least that moment in time. I may resurrect this tune in another form some other day.

Thanks for any and all who listened :)
