Doesn't your DAW show you this? Import the mp3 of the popular song as a track in your DAW session. Then you can see it's waveform, view the level bar as it goes up and down, etc.
I'm using Cakewalk Bandlab and importing an mp3 will look like my audio tracks...but not shown like our TAXI page files.

Check out Expose. Its not free but besides the waveform view it offers more analysis features that you might find useful.

Why do you believe you need to see it like it's shown on the Taxi waveform preview ?

Some feel if the waveform dosen't show interesting peaks, valley's and breaks, it's not worth opening. I want the level high enough but not the "butter stick" shape.

For anyone interested, I downloaded resonic.at
It will show the waveform using different options. The closest I could get for comparing taxi's waveform shows in stereo (in the "resonic.at") and is a more defined waveform than TAXI's. Resonic also doesn't appear to have the "butter stick" look. Taxi's waveforms must not be as well defined as my DAW or the Resonic program.
Resonic will help me get closer to what TAXI is looking for. After a few more submission, I'll fine tune my process.

Thanks for all your help,
Ron

"ML talks about looking at the files on TAXI and seeing, at a glance, if it's worth even opening."

Indeed, he does: and that's your point: first-glance interest 'grabber', out of the pile of pieces submitted.
Any little 'advantage' might make the difference, eh? (i.e. anything but the STICK OF BUTTER). :? 8-)

Good luck to you, Ron. Looks like you got what you were looking for.

OK - I think it's more important that you should listen with your ears and if you write for sync you should be aware that you need edits pooints and buildups etc. It's inherent in the writing process and not some after the fact visual metric to validate or invalidate your tracks.
