My First Royalty Cheque

Post by cosmicdolphin » Wed Jul 10, 2019 3:48 am

Yes that's how we spell it here in the UK folks !

But happy to say after starting from ground zero in Feb 2016 I just got notified that there is £155 due to me from PRS for my first ever payout. :D :D :D

I do everything 50-50 with my buddy/co-wrtier so that's my half of 9 placements. There's something like 280 pieces of our music out there now in a mixture of Taxi Friendly Libraries and some we found on our own too.

6 of those placements came via the Taxi Libraries, I will have to wait for a statement to know which placements paid the best. My music earnings so far:-

Pre-Taxi = About £70 in 5 years off my album sales/streaming ..I still have loads of CD's left over :roll:

2016 = £0
2017 = £30
2018 = £125
2019 so far = £500

The other non PRO earnings have caome from a mixture of Micro Syncs in RF Libraries ( also know as Taxi Returns Land) - Blanket share from one Taxi freindly Library - Up front consideration fees - A nice sync fee from a well known LIbrary for a track I originally wrote for a Taxi listing that was forwarded but never signed.

I still feel like a bit of a Rookie but we seem to have some traction, my skills are improving ..thanks in no small part to the very generous Andy Gabrys who has helped me no end..and kcked my butt ..Thanks Andy !

Looking forward to next Qtr now

Mark

That first check feels good. Now you have to keep chasing that same "high".

Congratulations!

And - for what it's worth from the little old guy in The Peanut Gallery - your participation and contributions to others via these Forums, at least from my seat, is a generosity that doesn't go unnoticed.
As far as the spelling - LOL - most folks I know don't even write paper "cheques/checks" any more - paying their bills on line, or from their smart phones. It won't be long before some kid asks me -
"Hey, what's that thing you're writing - what is that?" - "It's called a check... we put them in envelopes, stick on a postage stamp, and mail them."
"Okay - cool... :? :shock: 8-) ... what's a 'stamp'?!" :P

Congrats, Mark.

Nice job Mark! I'm sure it's a great feeling to see some return on your hard work. :)
