my first royalty statement -Thanks Taxi

Post by larrymagee » Wed Jun 22, 2016 9:16 pm

BMI just put up 4th qtr royalty statements. I'm so thankful to Taxi for enabling my very first royalties. Two cues, 14 plays on ESTV, and $6.70 from a Taxi forward. I could never have done this without Taxi.

Agreed! Thank you so much for sharing. Congrats on the placement and the royalties. If you don't mind us asking, how long after the initial forward were u contacted for the deal? Were there any up front sync fees?

Congrats and thanks again

Okay - some details. I joined Taxi and started writing and submitting my first instrumental cues in Feb 2015. My first forward was that same month. My first library contract on a Forward was Sept. 29 and I then sent some additional cues to the same library based on their blanket email requests to signed writers. Two of these new cues were used several times on TV in late 2015.

no upfront fees were paid. I think that is over for most TV instrumental cues.

I've written 363 cues. I just passed the 100 mark on forwards. I'm in about a dozen libraries.

I new nothing about this business when I joined Taxi. I learned it through Taxi books, Taxi TV, Taxi Forum, comments from Taxi screeners, etc. Making home recordings is a long time hobby of mine. Now that I'm retired I can really get into it.
