My sad song forward!
I'm happy about this one!! My song "I Remember You" just got forwarded to this "sad song" listing:Quote:S071217SDA range of great-sounding "SAD" INSTRUMENTALS [no vocals] are needed by a U.K.-based Music Library/Publishing Co. for TV placement. This company ran numerous TAXI listings in 2006 (and signed many TAXI songs) and is now in need of more great material as their service has become very much in demand. They are want sad/emotional themed tracks with instrumentation ranging from full orchestras to solo instruments. They don't want tracks that sound like they were obviously MIDI generated - authenticity and great performances are the keys. Both instrumentals with lead melody lines and basic backing tracks that serve as "soundbeds" are OK - they want both. All tempos are OK. Track length should be in the 1:00 - 3:00 range. At this point they work mostly with prominent U.K. TV channels such as the BBC and ITV, but also supply music to other production companies that broadcast worldwide. They offer non-exclusive, 50/50 deals. Broadcast quality needed [great sounding home recordings are OK]. Please submit one to three songs online or per CD. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than Dec. 17, 2007. TAXI # S071217SDMy critique scores weren't great because it is an old track that I have not yet re-recorded based on the wealth of knowledge I have gained from the generous and talented members of this forum. But the screener hesitantly felt that the track's quirky distant feel worked in this case, whereas, this is usually seen as a fatal flaw in my other songs.Oh, while I'm on that subject... I should admit that I joined Taxi a year ago for all the classic wrong reasons: I was in love with my little hand-full songs and wanted to get rich off of them. I wasn't happy with the early critiques of my precious creations and I felt like a failure. But today I'm so very far past that stage that I actually consider myself almost unfairly lucky when my older material passes the screeners. These days, I'm more interested in learning and growing than getting forwards. I still have a lot to learn but I'm excited, not sad about it!!!Just to be different, I'm posting a link to my YouTube video version of the song. I hope you get a kick out of it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Du92ut8PYSUBTW: This is my second forward for this song! I originally recorded it in a single pass without knowing what was going to come out of my fingers. I kinda liked the vibe so I taught myself how to play it again in order to record it with a better guitar.Cheers Friends,Allen

Quote:Just to be different, I'm posting a link to my YouTube video version of the song. I hope you get a kick out of it: Hey Allen,YouTube lists "related videos" to the right. The second one was Steve Howe (Yes) doing a live guitar solo. THAT'S some good company to be "related" to. Your track is really good so the "related videos" link is right on. Unfortunately, none of Steve Howes videos relate back to you. You'll have to work on that. DavePS - Being happy about a sad song forward is always better than being sad about a happy song return (or something like that).

Hey, Allen...I was able to access your You Tube link....I really love this piece, it's first rate! It has a nice haunting quality to it.....I can see why it nailed the sad song listing. Congrats!

Allen,Your entire story behind this one (as well as your personal TAXI experiences) just made my day. HUGE congrats, man.Learning and growing are what TAXI is all about. Forwards and deals are just the perks of such a supportive community, focused as you are, on making the best music we can.REALLY hope to hear your re-posting about this tune in "Success Stories" sometime down the line.
