Need help with an Avatar picture

Okay, silly question.... I'm hoping to become a more frequent poster on these forums again (I've been pretty spotty the past few years). But my avatar disappeared a while back - probably from something I did - and now I can't figure out how to get one up again. Every time I put a photo on an online image hosting platform and link the url, the forum bot says "invalid url". I've probably sunk 2-3 hours into this with nothing to show for it. Can anyone give some advice? I'd like to have my face show up again, rather than that damned question mark!

Cass, I can't thank you enough! I followed along as your video played and wha-lah, within less than 3 minutes I had my new picture / avatar up and running. Seriously, I dumped 2-3 HOURS into this earlier this week and got nowhere. Your video worked like a charm. Just in time for 2022!
