Very cool Dave, had my head bangin' to "The Dealer." Can't offer u any pointers cause you're way advanced, but just wanna pay a little respect to your work: awesome stuff. Good luck with it.

Thanks Ken i appreciate your support i suppose i want a better idea of what instrumentals should contain i thought tracks were good enough however i'm not going to dwell on it if there is something that they're missing i want to fix it if there is any experienced instrumental guys or gals that could set me straight as to what these tracks lack and what they need to make the grade then i would very much appreciate it.
many thanks
Dave.

These tunes aren't on the reverbnation page you've directed us to...?
I did take some time to listen to the tunes that ARE there.
If I may offer a few suggestions - your production sound a little "over-cooked" with too much compression. (just IMHO of course)
It seems that the days of super compression are over.
Overall quality is good, but the guitars sound REALLY crispy and brittle.
Also, style wise if this is the style that you submitted for a nickelback/daughtry/30STM listing - they are just way off target.
This style would work more for listings calling for funk rock/jam rock/ modern sounding surf-rock.

One other thing to think about would be a melody.
Even if you don't explicitly play a melody, it's nice to outline one...
Go check out Big Blue Barry's submission and subsequent forward:
http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... tream=true
(hope it's cool that I posted that link Barry - I just really dig that song!)
Hopefully you can hear some differences in production, but mostly in style.
Hear the beefiness of the guitars? and how he outlines a melody that COULD be there, but he doesn't overdo it!

Hope these few little pointer helped!

Cheers,
Nick

Hi Nick ,
the link is to the reverb nation page then if you click on the see all 25 songs they're at the bottom.
In my feedback form i was on target for this listing and got 9's for production etc so i'm not so concerned about that. The guitar sound is certainly not scooped in the mids but thats my own preference.I think your right a lead melody line or lack there of is were the problem lies,i tried to be subtle and blend it in with the arrangement obviously my plan didn't work.
anyway thanks for getting back to me and if your in Nagoya let me know.

Take it easy Dave.

Well..these ones SOUND MUCH better!
Maybe there was a mistake on the form? You could always call taxi to find out?
Like it was forwarded, but for some reason "not forwarded" was checked.
Tomodachi CERTAINLY sounds like 30STM to my ears...
Getting over sounds like Def Leopard to me.
The dealer sounds like it could have been on "Dark Horse"...
Yeah, strange...
Sometimes a track we submit might get 9's and 10's and still not get forwarded - just the bar is VERY high, or maybe the screener knows the clients and knows that he/she won't like anything in the key of "D", or anything that used a wah...who knows?
Don't forget that these critiques are VERY subjective and just one opinion...so keep submitting! These will find a home, they are VERY VERY good!

Cheers,
Nick

P.S. - I'd certainly jam with you if I ever made it to Nagoya, but my wife and I are actually moving back to Canada (Vancover actually) in 2 months...so prolly not gonna get the chance to make it out.
