New EDM track...Mayan Trance Mythology
So here's a brand new, last minute, just under the wire submission. (what else?) I don't know if this will work for the listing, it may be too complicated. I really wanted to get a better feel for contemporary EDM production, & I wanted something new to take to the Rally.
As always, any & all comments/suggestions/rants/flameouts are welcome.
Thanks,
Mike
EDM INSTRUMENTALS with the contemporary sound of Swedish House Mafia, Daft Punk, Calvin Harris, etc., are needed by the Owner of an extremely busy Music Library that works with virtually all of the Major networks. He LOVES the music TAXI has been sending, and has contacted a long list of TAXI members for specific placements. He's after forward moving instrumentals that deliver a party-friendly vibe. Please don't submit anything that is overly complicated that would make it hard to understand the dialog the music is under. Mid-to-Up Tempo Instrumentals only. This library offers a Non-Exclusive 50/50 split deal. You'll keep 100% of your original copyrights. You must own or control 100% of your master and composition rights to pitch for this. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than Tuesday, October 29, 2013. TAXI #Y131029EI

Thanks guys for taking the time to listen.
Dee, the breather sections do worry me a little with reference to the "forward moving" description in the listing. Just have to wait & see.
Cheers,
Mike

Heya, Mike.
I like the song. Though I think 120bpm is a little on the slow side, the song does have energy. Interesting use of chords giving it a mostly major key feel... hope that doesn't hold it back.
Good luck.

Yeah, I tried different tempi but anything faster made that progression sound like it belonged on the Cartoon Network....not that there's anything wrong with that.Russell Landwehr wrote:...I think 120bpm is a little on the slow side...

Re: New EDM track...Mayan Trance Mythology
Hello dear Michael,
I discovered "EDM" Music for the first time when Michael Laskow mentioned it during one of his TV Shows.
I like it very much. I suppose that it has to do with the famous Michel Jarre from France, who was a Pioneer in that Genre.
Very nice, Michael, "Mayan Trance Mythology", with a very catching Rhythm, and not a doll moment.
At 0.58, and at 1.44, you created good changes.
I suspect that the endeavour to approach and move nearer "Mayan Mythology" with "EDM" is not an easy or straight forward task.
Personally I would have loved more work into expressing the Mayan deep and time gone Spirit. Especially because it is sensational to try to achieve that with ... EDM !
Chuck Henry, a successful Member of TAXI, invented : "Ethno Electronica" and he is composing very much along the line of that which we are discussing here.
And here, especially for you, a MAYAN Warrior :

I definitely think it has the "party friendly vibe" the listing asks for. I would like to know what they say about the complexity. I had a couple I didn't send in because of that. But the song itself is awesome.

Hector: Thank you for that picture! It's incredible! I'll have to check out Chuck H's work.
Michael: Thanks for the kind words. I hedged my bets with a couple of other tracks I submitted to the same listing. It's definitely easy to overdo stuff for libraries. Here's hoping one of 'em makes it past the gatekeepers.
PS. Hector, if you check out this track again, you'll find it graced by your pic. Thanks so much!
