Greetings everyone! I just joined taxi, and I have to say listening to the talent around here is intimidating! I am going to try to expand my range and sound and I look forward to the challenges!

Welcome to the show.
Is that "Loi" as in "Boy"?... or "Loi" as in "Low-eye"?
Please kindly introduce yourself to our studio audience;
what is your real name, and what do you really do? :? 8-) :)
(how many times have people mis-texted your name as "Lol"? :) )
Cheers.

Loi as in Low-eye.

My real name is Jesse, I make and teach Japanese taiko for my day job. I have been writing and performing music for 20 years, but just decided to get "serious" about composing. I recently graduated from Berklee school of music and was awarded the Gloria Estefan celebrity online scholarship. I seem to have a sound that is heavily influenced by a few of my favorite experimental bands, and I am beginning to see that as a limitation. I am really impressed with the quality and variety of genres and sounds everyone here can put out its inspiring!

Even if I never get a forward taxi seems a bit like school for me, it provides a deadline and a direction for compositions and forces me to "expand" a bit. I like that challenge and do not think I would ever do that on my own.

What is everyone's main instrument? How long have you guys been members? Anyone go to the road rally/ conference thing?

Hello again, Jesse.
1) Thanks for clarifying the pronunciation.
2) Congrats on your recent graduation; a fiddler friend of mine is also a recent graduate - but with the numbers of folks with that claim, I don't imagine you would know him, or recognize the name.
3) Acoustic guitar... used-to-be-more drums, a little piano/keys, wannabee mandolin.
4) Hung out around the forums for years as a looky-loo before signing up June 1st!
That probably makes me the Oldest-Newbie.
5) Room is booked for my first RR - all indications are it's THE PLACE TO BE for members.

Again: welcome to the fabulous forums. :? :)

Welcome Loi! 8-)

The Rally is a must. You'll get to meet so many cool Taxi members and tons of A&R's. Will be my 2nd Rally.

I've been producing a little over 1 1/2 yrs now. Had my first forward after 6 months. With your expeirnece I'm sure you will be getting lots of forwards and placements very soon.

All the best,
8-)
