Once Upon a Time Machine © 2019 Robert George BMI
Me and her once waltzed together
In this smoky, roadside bar
Where time would disappear, and the dusty chandelier
Was the ghost of falling stars
And the barkeep served the strongest
Tequila, gin and sour mash
And the jukebox by the door, promised us forevermore
In the ageless songs of Johnny Cash
Tonight, I walked in from the mist
Dropped some quarters in and wished
Once upon a time machine
It would sing me back to that old scene
When her and I,
Were the moonlight in each other’s sky
Once upon
Once upon a time machine
I look over at the mirror
And trace the steps of our dance
Though I’d needed love to be, a dance of certainty
She just wanted one of chance
Now I see her waltzing in the smoke
As if somehow music could evoke
Once upon a time machine
It would sing me back to that old scene
When her and I,
Were the moonlight in each other’s sky
Once upon
Once upon a time machine
O the barkeep gives me change again
As if coins can buy what could have been
Once upon a time machine
It would sing me back to that old scene
When her and I,
Were the moonlight in each other’s sky
Once upon
Once upon a time machine
Spoken
This juke box has been my wishing well
Ever since my teardrops fell
Once upon a time machine
Once upon a time machine…
