ONOFFON's SSP of the Day is from a site that is due to launch later this month - IndieNetunes -Subject: Your music.....To: <onoffon@onoffon.com>"Good evening, please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Yvette and I have been working as a Tunefinder with a group called IndieNetunes. Our mission is to expose independent music to the masses. This is NOT a mass mailer or some sort of SPAM letter, give me a couple minutes of your time, please hear me out. We are working at putting up a web site as an outlet for band exposure. IndieNetunes will be run on an invitation only, song by song basis. Our goal is to launch before this month is out, keeping our fingers crossed that ‘technical glitches’ do not set us back. The reason I am sending you this letter is because we think we have found some serious ‘ear candy’ with your tune "Weekend in Montreal" and IndieNetunes is interested in adding that song and your band to our upcoming web site. Your tune will be amongst the best because we know ALL of the songs that we will be presenting to the world are great. We will not be letting any ‘flea bitten mutts’ into our house at IndieNetunes.Let me know if you would be interested in having your tune added to our song catalogue. We would love to have you join us."As some internet sites go away, new ones come to replace them - we thank Yvette for her gracious invitation...

When I posted our last entry, I did not realize that IndieNetunes had launched on Friday - so, for today's ONOFFON SSP of the Day, our IndieNetunes page -IndieNetunes.com ONOFFONhttp://indienetunes.com/Artists/ONOFFON/ONOFFON.htm"Visionaries of progressive jazz; interesting, ground-breaking, original, and above all - accessible."Once again, we'd like to thank Yvette and the IndieNetunes people for their kind words and inclusion in their launch....

Today's ONOFFON SSP of the Day is from a short lived OMD that prided itself on the quality of the music it hosted - 1Sound.com. Built by one of the originators of the first incarnation of Mp3.com, Rod Underhill, the site was dedicated to hosting only what they considered to be the 'best of the indie music scene' -Subject: 1Sound.com TelegramTo: ONOFFON <onoffon@onoffon.com>"ONOFFON,We are pleased to inform you that, due to the high quality of your music, you are now approved to have a maximum of four songs on your 1Sound.com artist page. You may upload your additional songs now.Best,1Sound.com Staff"The site was very professional and we hated to see it go away - we certainly appreciated all that Rod Underhill and the staff at 1Sound did for us...

The ONOFFON SSP of the Day is from an exclusive distributional site that carefully screens its roster before making them available for sales on their site - NETunes -NETunes.comONOFFONhttp://www.netunes.com/onoffon.htm"Dear ONOFFON/Von Babasin, On behalf of NETunes, I would like to welcome you to the select NETUNES roster of quality recording artists and are pleased to add your CD's to our catalogue online, featured on your own artist page. We have received your signed agreement from Von Babasin on behalf of the group, as well as a supply of your CD's, "Surrender Now" and "Your Mind". We are sending you back a signed copy of the agreement with NETunes, and will be putting your CD's up on the website very soon. One last thing we need for your webpage is a bio/description. We have examined your website and reviews, but we feel it would be best if you described yourselves, your music, and the band as a whole in a few paragraphs. We're looking forward to working with you and more great music, Kelly BrownVice-President Web ServicesNETunes.com, Inc."Since I received this, our page has gone live and can be reached at the link above - we'd like to thank NETunes for their amazing support for our music...

ONOFFON's SSP of the Day is another interview conducted by an artist/writer for the online music mag, MusicDish - Chris Burnett is an amazing jazz artist out of Kansas City - this interview was conducted while the Universal/Vivendi Mp3.com was still in existence, shortly after we had received a front page feature on the site -MusicDish.comhttp://musicdish.com/mag/?id=7361Musings in Cb: Online Music Distribution (Is Anyone Really Listening?) Part 12 of 12: Interview with Von Babasin, of ONOFFON By: Chris Burnett (Associate Writer) 2003-04-10 Artist: Von Babasin, of the group, ONOFFON Location: Studio City, CA Instrument: Bass, vocals Primary Website URL: www.onoffon.com/ Primary OMD site URL: www.mp3.com/onoffon"[Chris Burnett] How long have you been utilizing the Web for Online Music Distribution? Another great distributional site for independent music brings us today's ONOFFON SSP of the Day - Aural Adventures - it's CEO, Bill Barnes does a great job for us indie artists -Aural AdventuresONOFFONhttp://www.AuralAdventures.com/onof-01.htm"With the advent of such technological advancements as the Hubble telescope, we are gaining a greater understanding of the creation of solar systems, galaxies, and, yes, even the universe itself. With this new found knowledge we can now begin to comprehend the celestial events that led to the inevitable origins of ONOFFON.Since the earliest recorded time, and even before, there have been countless signs foretelling its arrival. The true harmonic essence of ONOFFON has resonated across time and space and interdimensional barriers to be heralded time and time again, .. generation after generation .. age after age .. eon after eon .. time immemorium ..The spirit of ONOFFON has continually sought that delicate opposing balance within all of existence - striving for enlightenment and harmonic purity through consonant dissonance, atonal tonality, and chordal dischord - the essence of life itself - adhering to physical and spiritual planes of reality. And, now, as if in fulfillment of some ancient prophesy, the legacy of ONOFFON has been passed down to one remarkable group of musicians. They possess the innate ability to balance the duel demands of technical excellence with the less tangible quality of an intrinsic feeling for the music they perform. Bassist Von Babasin and drummer Dave Goode have welded their talents into powerful rhythmic foundations on which guitarist Don Lake's melodic structures rest. They have effectively redefined the lost art of capturing live energy on tape so that their recordings are as compelling as their live performances."Much thanks to Bill Barnes and Aural Adventures for their continued support of our music....

Today's ONOFFON SSP of the Day is from recording artist Bill Sinkking and his views on our CD Surrender Now -ONOFFON - Surrender NowReviewed by Bill Sinkking"I really believe in ONOFFON. I mean, the music really grooves, which is what it's all about. Actually, I'd have to say it's about 60% Dave's drumming and 40% everything else that get's me goin'; although don't get me wrong, I really dig Don's playing and beautiful tones and melodies and awesome harp; along with Von's tasty bass lines and great voice. My fave is probably 'Your Reality', but I get off heavily too on 'The Gift Must Always Move', 'If A Thief Were I', 'I Don't Give No...', 'Inside My Soul', 'Weekend In Montreal' and of course, the title track. All of them masterpieces."Thanks to Bill for his take on our first album...

Hi Von - I listened to your music.I thought the recording sounded professional and the tone of the instruments was professional.I however felt that the motifs and melodies were not as engaging as they could be. Having grown up as a fan of artists such as Mahavishnu Orchestra, Billy Cobham, King Crimson, Weather Report and many other jazz/rock/progressive artists my reference is based on those artists work. I am also an accomplished musician in my own right so this opinion is from both experience and education.IDR

I wouldn't have it any other way. That, in itself, is high praise, indeed. There are those that liken our music to those very groups. But, just for the record - I don't think we sound anything like any of those groups. Maybe just in the way we approach music...Thanks again... sincerely,Von
