Thanks Johnny.I was the editor of Recording magazine for 10-1/2 years, by the way, which is how I first met Michael Laskow.

I, and several others that I know, have had pretty lousy luck with M-Audio tech support. Just one more thing to consider...

Really? I have been working on Akai Pro and their tech support is incredible, I even thanked them on my CD. What kind of problems were you having that made you need tech support? I have not worked with MPowered ProTools.

Re: Opinions on the Project IO?
So back to the unanswered question, is 8 faders enough for mixing? I went from 8 to 12 to 16 and often wish I had more. That's the only thing I'm hesitating about with the Project Mix I/O. Any opinions? It'd be cool if they'd make them linkable like Mackie mixers where you can just keep adding 8's until you have as many as you want in the chain.

That's a subjective call. I've grown used to mixing with zero faders.

Nick, I saw a great deal on a Project Mix I/0 today for $800. I think I'll just take the plunge. Thanks for giving me so much advice. Nomi

Re: Opinions on the Project IO?
I went to Guitar Ctr thinking I'd get that Project Mix I/0. They had told me it was factory refurbished and guaranteed. Turns out, it was used on consignment, had broken buttons and no power cord. While there, I tempted myself with the Digi002. It's twice the price but includes the software and looks a lot better.

Let us know how that works out!
