Any insight on how this could have been bigger and more epic?
It got rejected by the screeners for these reasons.
Cheers.

Re: Orchestral Hybrid Feedback
The drums at the beginning sound too polite or gentle, the kick drum seems out of place for this genre. Could have used a fat snare after the breakdown section in the middle, that section sounds more like a good starting section, the last 30 seconds or so are a nice buildup, I think you’ve got the first two acts of a three act trailer here. I think the quiet middle section is a little too long and kills some of the energy. Overall the bigger sections need more instrumentation and layers. Keep in mind, the bar for trailers today is insanely high, there is so much great music out there from fantastic composers. You’ve got the building blocks, just keep plugging away.

Re: Orchestral Hybrid Feedback
Hi Charles,
I would highly suggest that you critically listen to the references, or any other similar trailer track and analyse the structure, the instrumentation and the orchestration.
There are a lot of intricate, but not impossible, layering and producing skills that come into place in addition to the compositional content.
So my recommendation would be to start by listening, and try recreating, for your own and not to publish, the tracks you like most, by building your sound palette, and as a practice guide.
Do as much as you can, and move to a next one, and then another, and then another, and you'll quickly find yourself writing more and more in that style. It's a matter of doing.
Hope that helps,
