Orchestral Music request frequency?
I am planning on joining Dispatch next week. Can someone clue me in on the request frequency for orchestral music? I want to make sure it's going to be worthwhile. Here's a link to the style of orchestral I tend to write:http://kai-lucid-dreaming-space-opera.t ... id=111Dr.E

First, your compositions are very good. Some are amazingly ambitious. That's a LOT of work. Dispatch for instrumentals, particularly orchestral is kind of a hit-and-miss thing. They seem to come in batches with periods of time between. Just a quick scan of Dispatch listings since January I only saw four that were pure orchestral. There was another but it was wanting electronic/rock blended with the orchestral. One thing I've found (and you may or may not be particularly interested in doing this) is that there are a lot more opportunities if you're interested in adding electronica and/or ethnic instruments, sounds, and rhythms to your orchestral. I might be wrong but I think that you can receive and view Dispatch listings via email for free. Maybe someone can double check on that.Anyway, I'm a Dispatch member and although the majority of Dispatch listings seem to be for "songs" in various genres, the listings that they do have for instrumentals are usually really good.HTH,Dave

Re: Orchestral Music request frequency?
Thanks Dave! I do actually combine other styles with orchestral fairly often. I did the arranging, composition, mixing, etc. on an African music CD ( http://www.africangospelrhythms.org/afr ... ?page_id=2 follow the Napster, iTunes, or Rhapsody links to hear the orchestral bits), and enjoyed mixing the orchestra with African music. I'm looking forward to the challenges of Dispatch. As a side quick poll to everyone using dispatch, do you folks look at the requests coming in, then write music you think will suit it, or do you have a bunch of songs already written and pick one that might suit it?I've got about 300 recorded songs in many genres. I can picture doing the latter a lot.Dr.E

I know some folks that made a little game out of it, calling it "The Dispatch Challenge". You "win" if you write one or more tracks from scratch, submit them and get them forwarded. For regular listings I generally try to write new tracks but it kind of depends on the listing. I used to go nuts and do Dispatch listings from scratch but not so much anymore. I'm happy to submit existing tracks.
